[ABC/9:00pm] The Chaser’s War On Everything.
[ABC/9:35pm] The Catherine Tate Show. Premiere. With an extraordinary ear for mimicry and a sure sense of character and comic timing, Catherine Tate presents a variety of unique and quirky characters in this widely-acclaimed sketch show. The Catherine Tate Show has become a breakthrough hit of recent years with the characters’ catchphrases repeated in offices, playgrounds and at bus stops all over Britain. From ‘Am I bovvered?’ teenage nightmare Lauren, to Elaine (whose fiancé is a cannibal on death row) and the seemingly pleasant ‘Cockney Nan’ who just happens to be a foul-mouthed racist. This brilliantly observed series takes characters from everyday life, parodied to the extreme, as the talented actress, Catherine Tate, morphs through ages, accents and wigs. Characters include Moo Shepherd, a very competitive dog trainer; Ivan and Trudy, proprietors of a celebrity wig emporium; a woman who constantly put her foot in it at parties; Derek, an obviously gay man in denial about his sexuality; and a woman who often experiences difficulties with flatulence. In this episode, Lauren doesn’t like her teacher’s frumpy clothes and Jesus sandals. Sandra is a victim of ginger-hate crime. Derek Faye is miffed when his doctor gives him a leaflet for the weekly gay men’s health clinic and Nan Taylor insults the TV repairman’s mother.

  1. Sure Jack sounds good to me!! I dont watch much FTA though, I download everything! Amazing Race, The Apprentice, Heroes, Lost, 24, Six Degrees, Prison Break and so on! So I will have to keep spoiler central at bay.

  2. Well, I am surprised by Adam and Andrew’s reactions … I found most of it very funny with only the odd character that I didn’t warm to (same as with the odd character in Little Britain for me). Perhaps the love that you (David) and Damian have for the show did build expectations too high for some. But I think it is great (and a thousand times better than Extras!). Are we bovvered???

ADAM: I think we need to start a support group for obcessed gay TV fans … 🙂
    Jack!

  3. re Catherine Tate, well i was expecting a lot but i was bit underwhelmed. There were certainly some good parts in it but a lot of it i just didn’t really get. Though I’m not a big fan of Little Britain either and Catherine Tate was very much like that. Will probably see it again next week just incase tonight was a dud episode

  4. CATHERINE TATE SHOW:
I am so looking forward to seeing this … it sounds brilliant! As I mentioned before, recently saw her Red Nose Day skit with David Tennant (Doctor Who) and it was scream-out-loud hilarious!

    HEROES:
Keeps getting better and better … soon there will be appearences from other Sc-Fi related people such as George Takei – Mr Sulu from Star Trek, Christopher Eccleston – the previous Doctor Who and Eric Roberts who played “The Master” in the 1996 Dr Who Movie …
    Jack!
