Returning: Smallville.

Super news that TEN is returning Smallville to the screen.

The series will be back from Saturday September 29.

At 6:30pm is the episode ‘Reunion’ which aired in the US in October last year.

  1. I don’t mind what time, as long as it’s back…. Thank goodness.
We should boycott the afl so that way it would have come back a whole lot earlier… whooo hooo smallville.

  2. I missed this one …
Well, seen it all before and it is a very good season … particularly the first half!
The 6.30 slot is very inappropriate as the shows are not suitable for that slot and will suffer from what has to be edited out! IDIOTS!
The following season will be downloadable in a week of two anyway …
    Jack!

  3. Thanks for the clarification, sillyghosty – I never knew that (and it actually doesn’t make a huge amount of sense either – presumably whoever came up with that rule figured that parents would be available to “guide” during the bonus 3-7pm hours on weekends 🙂

Regardless, almost all the current-season Smallville episodes would fall under the M classification (the DVD box sets certainly do).

Ten needs to get it through their collective heads that it is NOT a “kid’s show”. It needs to be shown in an M rated time slot, otherwise a great deal of the pivotal scenes in these episodes will make absolutely no sense.

I say move Californication to the 6.30 Saturday slot and put Smallville on at an adult time 🙂

  4. OK i am happy smallville is coming back but at that time slot it is going to suck BIG time cause they will have to edit most of the episode to get it to a G rating. channel ten should just put smallville back to friday 7:30 or something like that.

  5. The classification for weekends is different. The 6:30 pm timeslot is a PG timeslot so ten won’t have to edit anymore than they have previously when it was airing on 7:30 fridays.

  6. On weekends, PG rated shows CAN be shown between 3pm and 7pm, so the first half of Smallville would NOT ordinarily fall under the G classification.

That said, I think it’s a horrid timeslot, and TEN should air the series uncensored at a more reasonable time. May I suggest 9.30pm Wednesdays?

  7. Ten has of course already been drastically cutting Smallville for a PG timeslot, often to the point of incoherence and, on at least one occasion, as the result of a complete lack of comprehension of the plot of the episode (editing out shots of a hung murder victim on the assumption that it must be a suicide!)

They’re actually going to have to cut a LOT more now, as Smallville in that timeslot will have to conform to a G rating for its first half hour. And with the content in some of the season 6 episodes still to be aired, that’s going to mean a LOT of censorship.

The censorship and the one-year delay (now – it was longer previously) made adding this one to my downloads list a no-brainer a couple of seasons ago.

  8. Now they’re going to have to cut the episode DRASTICALLY to get a PG rating for the timeslot. What’s the point of bothering when the episodes don’t make sense when they’re edited (look at Nine’s edited versions, completely non-sensical).

  9. I’m a huge fan of Smallville but because of Nine and to a lesser extent Ten’s sporadic showing of the show I always order the DVDs from America and watch it in my own time rather than watch the network broadcast….

Though, I was womdering, is this where they left the series off or did they skip some episodes?

Also, what a horrible time to put the show on, it’s for teens, who’s going to be home watching at 6.30 on a Saturday night? This is weird especially in light that they were showing it at resonable times last season and twice a week if memory serves correctly. I suspect this will be gone faster than a speeding bullet! Lucky I’ve got my DVDs!
