Suzanne Pleshette, best known as the husky-voiced wife in The Bob Newhart Show has died, aged 70.
Pleshette had a long career in film, television and stage, including schoolteacher Annie Hayworth in the Alfred Hitchcock film The Birds (1963). After a string of TV shows including Dr Kildare, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Marcus Welby MD, she is well-remembered as the wife of the neurotic Newhart.
She later guest-starred as Katey Sagal’s mother, Laura Egan, on 8 Simple Rules. Her last role was in Will and Grace as the estranged mother of Karen Walker.
Pleshette, who underwent chemotherapy for lung cancer in 2006, died of respiratory failure Saturday evening at her Los Angeles home, said attorney and family friend Robert Finkelstein.

It’s acknowledging someones contribution to the history of our medium and it’s a positive not a negative thing.
I know. I’m actually uplifted about their contribution to television, which is why their passing is acknowledged. The site also doubles as an archive of sorts so it’s important to log this kind of info.
But people can get uplifted about a co-host for It Take Two or an airdate for Two and a Half Men if they prefer. It’s not an either / or situation.
I think Bert Newton became a grandfather this weekend, is that uplifting enough for readers?
and it’s a bit hard to report them when they’re born 🙂
But really, i counted 16 articles on the main page. 2 were obituaries.. Anonymous must have selective blindness to have missed the other 14 articles !
Well stop reporting on it, be up lifting!!
Umm cos TV people keep dying?
Why is your site always filled with Death? Probably the most morbid TV site around.
