Chartbusting win in Community TV

The outrageous (Queen) Josie Parrelli this week picked up an Antenna Award for her beloved show Chartbusting 80s.

Despite no longer being on air, the series won the prestigious Outstanding Contribution to Community Television Award at the Antennas, the Channel 31 annual gongs.

Over seven years Chartbusting 80s has achieved press beyond the usual circles of community television, and was also presented with an ARIA Gold Disc for sales of Chartbusting 80s DVD 1 in 2007 -quite a feat for a community television show. The series has been seen in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane and New Zealand.

The clip-based show has presented interviews and live performances from Mental as Anything, Pseudo Echo, The Models, Boney M, Joan Armatrading, Brian Mannix, Ross Wilson, Weird Al Yankovic, Cyndi Lauper, Dave Sterry (Real Life), Jim Kerr (Simple Minds) and Gene Simmons.Josie Parrelli has also just finished a live season of Chartbusting 80s at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

The 2008 Antenna Awards will be broadcast nationally on community television on Sunday 27th April at 7.30pm on Channel 31.
