Alan Sugar sweetens UK Apprentice

Alan Sugar is hoping to be Seven’s Trump card, that is, he is the boss on the UK version of The Apprentice.

And he’s coming to Seven after the Olympics.

The format to the show is identical the US: aspiring entrepreneurs, a bear of a boss, his silent sidekicks, a lavish mansion, weekly challenges with competing teams, and spirited defences of failed strategies. And yes he says “you’re fired.”

If you’re missing the Trump, Sugar will easily fit the bill. He rose from a working class background to amass a fortune of £800m. He’s a seemingly split from the same atom as Bob Hoskins.

It’s a bold choice by Seven to slate the UK version given Nine has shown no interest in continuing the American original. In the US, US cablenet CNBC has also picked up the Brit series.

No airdate has yet been announced.
