Returning: Top Gear

SBS will screen more “Classic” Top Gear from 7:30pm Monday August 25.

These episodes from 2003 have never screened before in Australia. The first ep also marks the debut of James May.

Guests in this series include Jamie Oliver, David Soul, Anne Robinson, Neil Morrisey, Patrick Stewart and Alan Davies.

SBS also screens the 6 parter James May’s 20th Century from 8:30pm Sunday August 24.

Press Release:

Top Gear presenter James May takes a tour of the 20th century- trying out for himself some of the most surprising and influential technological advances of the past hundred years.

Over the course of James May’s 20th Century, which begins on Sunday August 24 at 8.30pm, James will speak to members of the legendary rock band Status Quo about teenage love of the electric guitar; have his brain photographed while looking at his favourite cars, to see how he reacts to pleasure, and take part in something so exciting, he’s called it “the most amazing thing he’s ever done.” He’ll also explore the glowing world of neon lights, and take a ride with Jay Kay – the lead singer from Jamiroquai – in his replica Luna Rover.

For the first time we travel back to 2003 to bring viewers a vintage series of Top Gear. It features James May’s first ever episode, as he joins the team to bring some hot car buying tips. It’s also the Love/Hate Board’s first airing, and ex-footballer turned Hollywood tough guy, Vinnie Jones tests a reasonably priced car. And if that’s not enough, a Toyota MR2 is dressed up as a Ferrari 355.
