Sunday night it’s Eighties, then the week after it’s Aussie Hits.

Then hold onto your white jumpsuits, it’s ABBA night.

Australian Idol’s Top 9 singers will be warbling their best Frida and Agnetha on Sunday October 5th.

That’s surely a challenge for the boys, given many of the songs are strongly associated as female numbers. The band only recorded a handful of songs with a male lead, including Rock Me and Does Your Mother Know.

Still, the band has an iconic pop discography. Idol makes no apology for seeking to create a pop star.

And girls, no fighting over The Winner Takes It All please…..

  1. Wouldn’t it be amazing if they got 1 of the Abba guys to come down to mentor them – that would be def worth watching.
    Maybe Kylie & Dannii can fly in to perform their cover of The Winner Takes It All – dreams are free lol.

  2. Dancing Queen was done by one of the Top 100 as their solo song (they showed a fair bit of the performance), but she was the last one cut from the Top 24.

    The guys will find it a major challenge, but it will be fascinating to see how they cope! I can bet that none of the guys will choose Gimme Gimme Gimme, though 😉
