Football Media Awards for FOX Sports & Seven

The Australian Football Media Association chose On The Couch as its favourite footy show this week.

FOX Sports’ On the Couch received the Best Television Show at the Australian Football Media Association Awards this week.

Seven commentator Dennis Cometti received the Most Outstanding Caller – Television award.

Also for Seven Nathan Buckley received the Most Outstanding Special Commentator and Seven News’ journalist Tom Rehn received the inaugural Clinton Grybas Rising Star award for his exclusive story on the Tasmanian push for a team in the AFL.

The win for Seven News is a turn around given the 2007 debacle of a report on the medical records of AFL players. That led to a ban by the AFL Players’ Association and a viewer backlash.

Channel Seven Melbourne general manager Lewis Martin said “Channel Seven is absolutely thrilled and honoured that some of our finest and hard-working commentators and journalist received the recognition they deserve from their peers. It’s a credit to Dennis, Nathan and Tom and the team at Seven – we’re just so proud of them.”

Footy Classified’s Caroline Wilson won the Alf Brown Award for the media’s Most Outstanding Performer.
