Nine is reported to have begun work on that potential new entertainment / chat format previously whispered about in the lead up to its 6pm news bulletins.
Georgie Parker and Richard Reid (Today, Domestic Blitz) were in the studio last weekend hosting a format that uses both live and pre-recorded interviews. Previous speculation on the show even mentioned the idea of a studio audience. At this early stage the pilot has not been approved.
A network spokeswoman told news.com.au, “no decision has been made.”
Nine has long been keen to address its 5-6pm timeslot, which has been losing to Deal or No Deal for too long. Earlier this year it made a serious attempt to revive Wheel of Fortune, but the Tim Campbell hosted show didn’t dent Andrew O’Keefe’s vehicle on Seven. It was discontinued after a short run.
Many moons ago Nine also packaged the lighter Extra programme in varying cities. It too folded, except in Brisbane, where it is still going strong after 16 years.

Georgie Parker’s everywhere. She’s replaced Gordon Ramsay as Nine’s new mascot
Sounds good and will be something decent to watch at 5.30. Georgie is great and RR is always good fun.
When I read this first, I thought it said Richard Wilkens !!! thank god I re-read it. This sounds a little like the old Live At Five, which was dead by 5:30.
Such a strange combination… Parker certainly does have a great sense of humour that’d be great for this show., but Reid I can’t warm to.
Richard Reid. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
what on earth is the go with Richard Reid? he began as a Hollywood gossip guy on Today, but always seems to be in Australia? does he live here now ? with how much time he spends here, I would suggest his role as the “Hollywood insider” is now somewhat defunct..
