Biggest Loser’s biggest question

Sometimes network launches are as significant what they leave out as for what they announce.

Sometimes network launches are as significant what they leave out as for what they announce.

In TEN’s 2009 programme launch one face was oddly absent from print, video and visual material: Ajay Rochester.

TEN’s official Press Release names trainers Shannan and Michelle, but neglects to mention Rochester.

Nor was her face included on the launch invitation (it had a montage of TEN personalities). During the media launch a video sequence of The Biggest Loser included moments from the last series, including Rochester’s voice announcing the winner -but no shot of the host.

This year Ajay Rochester was also in court for claiming a single parent payment which she was not entitled to, prior to the reality role, between 2001 – 2005.

TV Tonight has previously asked both TEN and FremantleMedia if Rochester was resuming the host role in 2009. Both assured that she would definitely return.

So why the odd omission from the 2009 launch?

Yesterday a TEN reaffirmed Neighbours was part of its 2009 plans, despite the title failing to appear on its Press Release. Programmmer David Mott made several references to Ramsay Street during his speech to advertisers and media.

But the exclusion of Ajay Rochester seems more considered.

This just doesn’t add up….

  1. AJ found her fame as a weight loss story, and has written books about her struggle with weight and diets. Thats why she is the host, or was….

IMO she should be dropped. She’s boring, untalented and uninspiring.

  2. Problem is “choice of next host is ……

Most shows have very dubious record of changing hosts/judges – kyle & Jackie O for BB, Everitt for Ready Steady Cook..

  3. May and Jason, Ajay suffered from obesity. After giving birth to her child, she lost 50 kilograms. Obviously, they chose her because she is an inspiration to many involved on the show.

  4. Ajay Rochester is probably the worst tv presenter in recent memory. Unable to read an autocue convincingly, ineptly pausing to give a forced sense of drama to the proceedings and she seems to balloon up with each passing episode, which is quite counterproductive for a show like this.

  5. Maybe Ajay isn’t going to be the host of next season. I hope not. I couldn’t stand her on the show. She was just so bland and boring. Her robotic hosting skills didn’t help much either.
