Life on Mars wins International Emmy

Life on Mars leads a British sweep at the International Emmy Awards in New York.

Life on Mars again won the major award at the International Emmy Awards in New York on Monday. The BBC series took out the prize for best drama series. It also won in 2006.

Jordan’s The Invasion, won in the telenovela category. Television por la identidad, from Argentina won for TV movie/miniseries.

David Suchet won best performance by an actor for his portrayal of media magnate Robet Maxwell in the BBC’s Maxwell and Lucy Cohu won best performance for an actress for her role as Liz in Forgiven.

The UK were big winners taking out Strictly Bolshoi for arts programming; Shaun the Sheep for children and young people; The I.T. Crowd for comedy; and The Beckoning Silence in documentary.

The Big Donor Show from Endemol in the Netherlands which won for nonscripted entertainment.

Law & Order creator Dick Wolf was honored with the International Emmys Founders Award.

No Australian show was a finalist.

  1. Life On Mars is an amazing show!!! I watched both seasons on DVD, having missed it on TV, and I couldn’t stop watching episode after episode! I can’t wait for Ashes To Ashes to hit our screens!

  2. An excellent show. If you haven’t seen it, make sure you do. I’d hate to run into the Gene Genie in a dark alley 🙂
