Airdate: Tin Man

This re-imagining of The Wizard of Oz includes Neal McDonough, Alan Cumming and Richard Dreyfuss.

Tin Man, a three-part reimagining of L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz will air on Seven later this month.

Imbued with a heavy science fiction emphasis it was originally broadcast in the US last December to poor reviews. Variety said it fused elements of The Matrix, Blade Runner, and Snow White but said it was “a bit of a mess.”

USA Today said “Ambitious and intriguing though it may be, Tin Man is simply too long, too grim and too determined to impose a Lord of the Rings universe-saving quest on top of a simpler, gentler story.”

Seven will air it in two parts at 8:30pm Friday Dec 26 and Saturday Dec 27.

  1. Hey I thought this was a very good movie. I didn’t catch the credits of who was who… I hope I’m not the only one but did anyone else think it DG was the singer Katy Perry??? I now know it’s Zooey Deschanel but the looks and voice were very uncanny.
    Maybe it’s just me

  2. Yes how can they?

There are 3 part, each about 85 minutes so where do they edit or was there a 2nd “TV Version”???

It’s like the “life after people” special which channel 7 butchered by cutting out 25 minutes from the original 90 minute show.

Just go out rent or buy the DVD guys!

  3. I heard about this and I was really looking forward to. Shame it’s crap, it had real potential.

I thought it got nominated for a couple of awards like an Emmy or something. Maybe I’m wrong.

  4. I really enjoyed it … thought it was a more appropriate version of the sugar coated “Wizard of Oz” movie version of the book … it is not meant to be a “pretty” story.
    Jack!
