Spoiler: Superstars of Dance finale

SPOILER: Show's over lady, but how did Australia fare in the NBC finale?

superstars-of-dance23SPOILER: Apparently, Australia got pipped by the Yanks. Duh.

Despite going into the season finale one point behind Australia on the competition’s master leaderboard, the United States team ended up  as Superstars of Dance’s overall points leader.  Pffft.

Prior to the presentation of the first medal, Team Australia led the master leaderboard with 414 points while Team USA followed close behind in second with 413 points.

Team Australia couple Gisele Peacock and Henry Byalikov received the duet category’s bronze medal after receiving 58 points for their final performance.

Team Australia’s 58 duet category points pushed them back into the lead on the master leaderboard with 472, with Team USA staying put with 464 points because they did not have a dancer participating in the duet category’s final round.

However, Team USA jumped into the lead and won the group dance category’s gold medal after their Groovaloos received 66 judging points for their final performance. China’s Shaolin Monks followed with the silver medal after receiving 57 points, while the Australian team faltered and only received 53 points for the bronze medal.

Boooo.

  1. The show was terrible. Terrible.

After an okay if not great start, the show’s ratings in the US quickly plummeted as people realised it was a turkey. It was just bad television. Full stop.

Nine bought it on premise before they had seen an ep. I suspect having seen a few eps then the week 2 US ratings, they (Wisely) passed on airing it.

  2. ka-ching: I think you are absolutely right. The only reason Nine bought this was so that Ten couldn’t use it. I don’t think we’ll ever see it on our screens.

  3. This show would have made great summer viewing. I wish Nine would stop buying the rights to things they have no commitment to. They probably just wanted to stop Ch 10 having it – it would have made a great lead-in to SYTYCD.

Congrats to Team Australia – Henry in particular. It is great to see that someone who has been noticed via a reality tv show has gone on to other things in his chosen field.

  4. How hard would it of been to find a place for this in the summer schedule? I am with you Brodie, why did Nine bother?

I bet you this has already been aired in the other countries who took part.
