Phil Keoghan’s amazing underwear race

Minor spoilers: There are some hosts who go to great lengths to get an Emmy nomination. Right Phil Keoghan?

the-amazing-race-phil-underwear-2Minor Spoilers: Phil Keoghan. What a guy.

In the latest series of The Amazing Race he really showed what he is, umm, made of… literally.

While visiting deepest, coldest Russia, Mr Keoghan introduced the next Road Block for racers. The cameras pulled back to show Phil in his underwear. What the?

philIt seems a custom in this particular city is to run through the freezing temperatures in your underwear. Which is what contestants were made to do. So the host got into the spirit… apparently…. Good ‘ol Phil. His show wins Emmys every damned year but he wasn’t even nominated.

Take that Jeff Probst. Let’s see you in your… oh wait. There are already dodgy pics circulating the net of Jeff right?

On a more serious note, Phil also finally comments on his blog to non-Americans desperate to compete. He reckons an international version wouldn’t work.

It never ceases to amaze me the number of fans who write in from Canada…and the number one question, “Why can’t Canadians be a part of the Race?” Australians, New Zealanders…people from all over the world ask the same thing about their eligibility. There are lots of reasons from passports, logistics, casting resources, legal coverage…it is way more complicated than you might think. The fact is there are simply so many choices for casting here in the States for a great show and of course there are now other versions being made around the world.

As far as an international race down the line…maybe, but again think of the challenges. Many people have suggested four networks get together (Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA) and each puts in say three teams and equal money. But who would be in control of the show? What happens if all three Australian teams get eliminated in the first three episodes? Fun to talk about but it didn’t work for the international Idol series.

Apart from with TAR is good for watching Americans behaving badly.

Can we have the new series pretty please, Mr. Worner?

  1. A great season. I turned off for the last couple but this one has my vote.

Even has School of Rock’s Mike White as one of the racers (he wrote School of Rock and also starred in it as Jack Black’s geeky flatmate).

    Two thumbs up.

  2. well if we think about it. all of 7’s 7:30 and 8:30 positions are occupied for quite some time. maybe TAR could take Tuesday 9:30 after easter i don’t think shocking story is a long term thing and they will really need demos on tuesday without rafters, or then theres wed 9:30 when BTD finishes.
