Seven secures ratings week

Seven won last week's ratings with a clear 3% share over Nine, and it's first Sunday win in the 2009 ratings year.

border_securityAfter three tight battles between the two rivals, the Seven Network ended last week a clear 3.0% share over the Nine Network.

Seven won with 30.0% share over Nine’s 27.0% and TEN’s 21.7%. The ABC had 15.9% and SBS 5.5%.

Seven won all cities plus 18-49 and 25-54 demographics. TEN won 16-39. Seven also won Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with Monday and Thursday going to Nine.

The week included Seven’s first Sunday night win in the 2009 ratings year, with Border Security proving to be an astute move away from its traditional Monday home. It’s 1.49m walloped 60 Minutes’ interview with Greg Norman on 1.16m.

Nine’s Underbelly was again the week’s top show with 2.23m, with 1.87m for Seven’s Packed to the Rafters, 1.48m for TEN’s NCIS, 1.13m for ABC’s Spicks and Specks and 885,000 for Top Gear on SBS.

  1. Will be interesting to see how things change in coming weeks as the Footy Shows and NRL on 9 take up normal scheduling duties from Thursday to Sundays now.

  2. What will Nine do when Underbelly finishes and the footy kicks in ?
Seven seem to have played it safe and smart by conceding Monday at 8-30 although Desperate Housewives still pulls good figures
Shame Nine has nothing to back up at 9.30 or elsewhere thru the week

  3. if 9 can’t win tp’s or demos with underbelly and almost every one of their hits from last year in their lineup what can they win?

whats worse is that 7 is winning out of being conservative. they haven’t even hit their power part of the year with the force, TGYH, dancingWTS, new bones, the pacific ect.

  4. Underbelly is 9’s only truly successful show at the moment. Mentalist should do better, as should CSI, but rest of their line up is poor. Not even the outrage of 20-1 being top non-news on Thursday helps them.

Hope they can see that the combination of poor programming, too many line up changes for printed and other TV giodes to keep up with, and consistantly late starting programs are now all catching up with them.

  5. well who would’ve thought we’d be here. being the 7 fan that i am even i thought that 9 would be dominating these first few weeks. they have sacrificed long term success to let their stars align in these weeks. especially with underbelly in their lineup i’m sure gyngel ect. are killing themselves that they can’t win tp’s (let alone by 3%) or even their demo’s.

this week will probably not be much different. 7 are only 2% behind (better than this point last week) and their power period is just about to start.
