Deal v Hot Seat betting cancelled

An online gambling site cancels bets for its game show battle. But just who had money riding on this one?

hseatAn online betting agency which was running a book on Deal or No Deal vs Hot Seat has cancelled the betting.

Last week it indicated indicates the winner would be decided by: “Highest Median 5 City Oztam Rating 21/04 – 30/05/09 Inclusive. Bets Off If Either Show Cancelled Or Rescheduled During Betting Period.” That’s a six week period.

Yesterday it sent an email to those with wagers, advising: “Channel 9 have decided that Hot Seat will only screen from 20 April to 15 May 2009. As our market was dated 21 April to 30 May 2009, we have no alternative but to abandon the event.”

Nine had always promoted the show as “20 Nights, $20M!” Whoever set the dates for the gambling book must have missed that promo.

Monies were refunded to accounts.

But what was even more intriguing in the email were the names CC’d on the address list.

TV Tonight understands there was more than one Seven executive with money on the battle.

Be interesting to know if they had money on Andrew or Eddie…

  1. Yesterday was the first time in ages I was home for 5.30pm so I watched Millionaire out of interest and I was surprised that it was actually alright! Eddie is a lot more tolerable when he’s got more of a time constraint.

  2. If there were executives betting, then they would be losing money.

But if I were a betting man they should look at this, DoNd has had a sharp decline in Brisbane, since the AOK incident, due to the fact that viewers probably lost faith in AOK, and turned to a clean, wholesome family woman, i.e Heather Foord to guide them.

    Brisbane viewers are fickle.
And if 7’s not careful, they could lose their #1 nationwide status, if this bug spreads to BTQ’s news.
