homeMADE announces judges

homeMADE will mix 10 emerging designers with 100 rooms and $1m in renovations for Nine.

david-heimannNine’s will have the media launch for its new renovation series homeMADE next week, in which 10 emerging designers will makeover 100 rooms, with $1,000,000 in renovations. One winner will take home a $100,000 cash prize.

In the role of judges are Neale Whitaker, Editor in Chief of Belle, and interior stylist Sibella Court.

David Heimann (pictured), owner and founder of the design empire Orson & Blake, is already announced as host and mentor.

Each team will completely makeover two suburban family homes, in five days.

Each family in homeMADE become clients of the teams, with a say in every part of the design process, including how a $50,000 budget is spent.

In the series devised by Julian Cress and David Barbour (The Block, The Chopping Block), the teams’ challenge is to meet their client’s brief while also impressing the judges. There is also an elimination every week.

The designers will compete under the watchful eye of one of the country’s top design gurus, David Heimann, owner and founder of the design empire Orson & Blake.

In the role as host of Nine’s new renovation competition Heimann will mentor 10 up-coming designers through the rigorous renovations.

Heimann says, “Every week we will completely make over two homes from start to finish including bathrooms,  kitchens, living, dining, bedrooms – the lot!

Guest judges include  Deborah Bibby, Paul Hecker, David Hicks and Greg Natale.

The series is likely to premiere unday May 10th.

  3. Wow just reading up and my gosh what a great idea for a show, I can wait till it goes to air!
    Wish I heard about HomeMADE sooner _ I would have loved to put our house in the competition! A house with so much potential but sooo much work required! 🙁

  4. So they have had one succesful format “The Block” and other luke warm formats ” The Chopping Block “Australian version (lets not mention the US one)
    I wonder when Nine/David Gyngell will stop picking up their ideas/formats
