Airdate: Dollhouse

Joss Whedon's new science fiction series with Eliza Dushku and former Neighbours actress Dichen Lachman airs on FOX8 in early June.

dichen-lachman-1Joss Whedon’s latest series, Dollhouse, will hit Aussie screens at 8:30pm Tuesday June 9th on FOX8.

The series features former Buffy actress Eliza Dushku as Echo, an “Active,” a member of a highly illegal and underground group of individuals who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas.

Dollhouse revolves around Echo’s blossoming self-awareness and her desire to discover her true identity. But with each new engagement comes a new memory and increased danger inside and outside the Dollhouse.

Hired by the wealthy, powerful and connected, the Actives don’t just perform their hired roles, they wholly become –with mind, personality and physiology –whomever the client wants or needs them to be. Whether imprinted to be a lover, an assassin, a corporate negotiator or a best friend, the Actives know no other life than the specific engagements they are in at that time.

The series  also features former Neighbours actress Dichen Lachman as one of the other Actives.

  1. First few eps were rather average, but episode 6 was fantastic and from there the season got better and better. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoyed Whedon’s other works. A different kind of show with a brain, its good news about the second season.

  2. Episode 13 should be aired on Fox 8, since the whole reason why it was made was that the production company had promised 13 episodes when selling the show overseas.

  3. Just a word to those who don’t know if you want to watch this show, keep at it. It’s really good for the first few eps, but when it hits ep 6, it is phenomenal. The episodes stop being stand-alones and start to really get brilliant storylines.

  4. I’m really looking forward to seeing this. I’ve loved everything Joss Whedon has produced so far, so I’m really glad to see he’s been given a second series!

  5. Since it was created by Joss Whedon it is obviously something that Buffy fans would want to watch.

However there is one Buffy forum that does not seem to understand the concept of the Whedonverse. This is because this forum has the Dollhouse thread in the TV section with shows that are not related to Buffy nor Joss Whedon. However this same forum has a seperate section for the other non-Buffy Whedon show Firefly. I mean given who it was created by shouldn’t Dollhouse be given the same treatment as Firefly.

A moderator told me that they are waiting to see if Dollhouse is going to be a success before deciding to give it special treatment but that is hardly the point.

Since Dollhouse has been renewed for a second season there really is no excuse for that forum to give it the same treatment as the non-Buffy non Whedon shows. Come on it is a Whedon show give it treatment it deserves.

  6. I have seen all 12 transmitted episodes of season 1 and quite enjoyed it.

Episode 13 will be straight to DVD.

Wonder if episode 13 will be shown on FOX8 since Australian networks in the past have shown episodes that were not aired in the US.

  7. Ten would’ve had first rights to this (currently poor rating) show via their Fox output deal and screened it on the now non-existent Ten HD, so obviously
opted to onsell it to Foxtel.

  8. @tomothy What about Topher, Paul Ballard (the cop), Dr Saunders, Adelle… there’s story lines with all of these characters throughout the series…

  9. Thought provoking, sexy, ass kicking. What more do people want?

I hope it’s more successful outside the US where people are not so hangup on their moral high ground.

    I’m eagerly anticipating season 2.

  10. absolutely brilliant show! Especially the second half of the season. Best news of the week was when Fox picked it up for another season – albeit it 12 episodes
