Box Office takes orders

Foxtel now gives subscribers three ways to order Box Office movies, good news for those without a landline phone.

bradpittoldFoxtel iQ and iQ2 subscribers can now order scheduled Box Office movies via the phone and also online, without the need to have a working home phone line return path connected to the set-top-unit.

Previously iQ and iQ2 subscribers who did not have a connected return path installed were unable to order Box Office movies.

A smart move given its a revenue raiser with younger viewers some of whom prefer Naked DSL and don’t need a landline phone.

This gives viewers three options to order the films:
* Using the remote control (for subscribers with a connected return path);
* By calling 1300 783 833 and following the prompts;
* Ordering online using “My Account” at www.foxtel.com.au

Foxtel’s Patrick Delany said, “Our technical team have changed the order signal to be sent via the Foxtel connection rather than the phone landline. This overcomes the issue of ordering a movie without a home phone line and addresses the issue with subscribers who only have a mobile phone connection.”

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button screens from June 3rd, the same day as its DVD, Blu-ray and rental. Subscribers who order the film will automatically go into the draw to win a 50″ High Definition flat-screen TV.

  1. Just got an email today from Foxtel which states the following – so still not a fix for those who have IQ2 and want to see the HD movies:

    “This change applies to movies on FBO Channels 901 – 926 only (Near Video On Demand titles). HD movies still require ordering via iQ2 remote and a working return path.”

  2. >Why are some channels like Box Office not avaliable to all

    Some satellite installations aren’t setup fully/correctly and so only receive one polarity (Horizontal), Box Office and some others are on Vertical.
    More stuff will be on Horizontal when the new sat goes up (late this year+).

  3. Now I wont have to buy a phone line extension cord to order movies.

    Why are some channels like Box Office not avaliable to all homes. Surely if they are using the satellite like other channels, would’nt they also be picked up. There seem to be a few channels that are not avaliable to multi-dwelling buildings.
    Can anyone clarify this for me, it seems strange.????
