today22Tracy Grimshaw could move to 60 Minutes, Karl Stefanovic could take over A Current Affair and a new bloke could move onto Today according to one report today.

The Daily Telegraph hints that Nine news boss Darren Wick is considering the moves following Grimshaw’s interview with Matthew Johns which received wide praise from commentators and the show’s best figures for the year.

Following the story she gave 18 follow up interviews to media. Today Grimshaw also comments on the interview noting:

“… it was tough and I don’t apologise for that,” she said.

“I wouldn’t say the interview was particularly comfortable for me.

“There was a particularly highly charged atmosphere in that room.”

It isn’t the first time many have felt Grimshaw is “wasted” on ACA, particularly when it comes to introducing consumer stories on the best place to buy plasma TVs or comparing take away foods. Stefanovic has previously hosted ACA as has David Gyngell’s wife Leila McKinnon.

The Tele notes that Grimshaw has been ‘agitating for some time for a change of role at the network.’

Last year she told TV Tonight, “Karl’s very happy doing the Today show and I’m very happy doing ACA.

“That’s media speculation. Honestly, I’ve never had a conversation with anybody about that stuff.

“So far as I know, unless somebody knows more than me, I’m doing what I’m doing, Karl’s doing what he’s doing and 60’s doing what they’re doing.”

Of course that was six months ago…

  1. my 2 cents: give aca better stories, more of a heavy weight – enough already with the bra/weightloss stories….give tracey something she can get her teeth into. If she does go over to 60 minutes, dont put karl on it – the today show will not be the same……if anything, put cameron onto 60mins. The dynamics that exist between Karl and Lisa cannot be easily replaced – just think of the pain we went through replacing tracie. Getting rid of Karl would set the show back another 2 years.

  2. It’s always a good opportunity for a change in direction of a current affairs show when there is a change of host. Nine are desperate to claw back some credibility in their once leading News and Current Affairs division. By putting in a new host, it is an excellent opportunity to get a real current affairs programme. Karl? Leila? Cameron? Nah. Mark Ferguson. Yeah. And what’s with Nine’s obsession with Karl Stefanovic? I always like to see on air talent be groomed if they are actually good at what they do but just don’t get the Karl thing….
