Trial begins for ‘Hey Hey’ producer

A trial involving former Hey Hey its Saturday producer Gavan Disney began in a Ballarat County Court today.

Disney, 60, is accused of sexually assaulting a teenager with whom he worked at a Ballarat television station in the early 1980s.

Disney was the producer on Hey Hey from its inception in 1971 until he fell out with host and co-creator Daryl Somers in 1990. Disney later moved to Channel 10, where he produced the hit show Healthy, Wealthy and Wise.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The trial continues.
