  1. CK- ah yes i forgot about the white sparkles, i see those too but they don’t bother me that much. but being blasted by a pattern of white noise/static and missing out on dialogue as a consequence is quite annoying. and the video being out of sync with the audio and at a reduced frame rate or something will ruin any recording i actually intend to keep. but channel 9 itself doesn’t have these issues, just 9HD, so hopefully GO! will be ok as it is a different channel. but on second thought since 9HD is returning to a simulcast maybe they will use the same equipment for GO! and the problems will persist. i guess i will just have to wait and see and if they are still there give 9 a call and report it, last time i called them about a qld 9HD problem they had absolutely no idea it had occured.

  2. @bindi: Those white sparkles aren’t “signal quality” problems. They’re just an internal problem at Nine where they put the “PG” etc graphics on screen after the ad break, and the machine that does it is having problems doing the HD overlay cleanly.

If you had signal quality problems, the whole thing would be unwatchable, trust me. It’s “digital” TV … you either can see it, or you can’t.

  3. @Knnowfirst: To paraphrase Radiohhead, Nine did it to themselves, they did, and that’s what really hurts.

Nine has built itself a reputation with its viewers (and former viewers) for randomly changing the schedule with zero notice, and for pulling shows after one or two episodes. This annoys people. These people then, quite justifiably, are annoyed at Nine. And they then expect the worst from a network that has shown them zero respect whilst bowing down in worship at call-me-now phone sex line advertisers.

Oh, and trying to put a company that was keeping people up to date on their schedule changes out of business.

Sorry, but Nine in most regular TV viewers’ minds at the moment = pond scum. Of *course* we expect them to shuffle the shedule for “Go” around unannounced. That is what they do.

  4. Smart move I think, why launch with kids programming, better to use primetime with a popular if not thought provoking piece of content. I never watch Nine but GO may be better than at least for a handful of shows

  5. whinge gripe moan…… that’s all we’re going to get?

The station isn’t really officially launching until late September anyway. It’s also free. So be thankful you’re getting something for nothing.

  6. Not an encouraging first piece of programming, but I’m still looking forward to GO, and it looks like there’ll be more scripted progamming and less reality bilge than its parent channel.

  7. Channel 9 programming strikes again. A very bad sign. No, this is not a teething problem, this is something they could have done from the start. I thought it was surprising that they did not have a primetime launch like what ONE has done. Now this means no kids programming in the morning, not even on 9HD I assume.

  8. So wait Foxtel is not carrying Go!?

Go! is a FTA network. They carry SBS Two, ABC2 and One. They should relaly carry Go!

    What about Austar?

  9. what i’m mostly worried about is the signal quality, every so often 9HD has these bursts of white noise kinda like what mobile phones do to speakers so you miss what was said, picture is fine though. and the other day the whole hour and a half of bewitched and i dream of jeannie had the picture out of sync with the audio and the picture was at a reduced frame rate or something that was kinda like shadowing, the old picture was shadowing the new picture, like dragging or something and there were weird horizontal lines. so i hope that GO! is not riddled with such technical difficulties as well. although these problems are probably queensland based so some of you may not have experienced this.

  10. @Craig – Wipeout (US) was filmed in HD from the second season so you would assume so….. It was just the First season that was in 4:3.
Only problem is GO! isnt HD… So we’ll get the 16:9 screen but not HD quality (altho i dont really see a massive difference to be honest and i have a FullHD TV.

As for everyone whinging about them changing the schedule give them a break its a new channel…. there are going to be teething problems. And its not like it is a massive change anyway…. its still Wipeout its just not the Aussie Version.

I think one of the biggest problems for the channel is not having access on Foxtel.

  11. Wipeout? – I think that just describes what I’ll have to do to the first day’s kids’ recordings I’d set up for my PVR.
Whatever happened to that Wipeout Oz Best-Of and the rest of the first series? I’m not a huge fan but my kids loved it.

  12. Why did they make a local version if they were going to dump it on the GO! channel anyway?

So dumb question but does ch9 have the rights to the US version in 16:9 HD?

  13. Does this leave the rest of the programming as previously stated? ie, after Wipeout there are 4 episodes of Bing Bang Theory, and so on?

  14. i want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but they have already made changes to the schedule and it’s still 2 weeks till launch, please nine don’t let this be the start of whole of a whole heap of changes like you have being doing with your main channel.

  15. Nine could probably use Wipeout on their main channel, would certainly perform better than The New Adventures of Old Christine did last night.
