Airdate: Dollhouse “The Future Project”

FOX8 will screen the "extra" unaired episode of Dollhouse, but opts to change its name.

dhFOX8 will screen the “extra” episode of Dollhouse, filmed at a time during contractual differences between FOX and production company 20th Century Fox Television.

Unaired in the US it was released on DVDs as “Epitaph One.” But oddly, Foxtel has chosen to rebrand the episode as “The Future Project.”

The year is 2019, and the world is broken. A small band of survivors discover an abandoned Dollhouse and – as they explore its shell – begin to understand the shadowy organisation and start to suspect it may have been responsible for the current terrible state of the world.

Written and directed by Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly and Angel, this special episode will not fail to impress fans of the show and Whedon’s previous work.

It screens on FOX8 Tuesday September 1st.

The second season of Dollhouse is currently in production (check out the poster here).

  1. Summer Glau, Eliza Dushkn and Dichen Lackman, my three fav actresses, all together in the one show.. Have I got this right ..??.. Am I dreaming..??.. Ohh yeahhh… bring it On.. This will be brilliant…

  2. Man what a great episode.. I hope it goes further and dosn’t leave us climbing up a ladder.. Echo and all the crew except Aimee Acker obviously get killed off hence the remberance wall.. Wonder how..??.. That could be years away.. Guess we will find out down the track.. A brilliant show Joss… Congrats..

  3. Well I am not surprised by this as Australian networks in the past have shown US TV episodes that were not aired in the US like a few episodes of fellow Whedonverse show Firefly.

  4. This episode is actually one of the best ones of the series, despite it being set a few decades into the future and being shot with a smaller budget.

The first few episodes of this show were fairly bland but by episode 6 it become just as good as Whedon’s other stuff (Firefly, Buffy, Angel).

  5. I’m a huge Joss fan but kind of struggled through Dollhouse, but this is a great episode of television. Not sure why Foxtel decided to give it such a stupid name though.

  6. I got season 1 yesterday, and let me tell anyone who is planning on watching it, it is Epic! A must-watch episode that leaves you satisfied, curious and wanting more =D!
