The NAB AFL Draft will be conducted at night for the first time ever with a live telecast on FOX Sports.
The draft will now be held on Thursday November 26, to begin at 6.30pm and to conclude by 8pm, instead of the traditional Saturday morning.
AFL football operations manager Adrian Anderson confirmed on Wednesday that the League had received the all-clear to shift this year’s national draft to a Thursday evening.

Please don’t ruin the telecast by having the top ten in reverse order. Much more edge of the seat / suspenseful if done from 1st to last, not 10th to first and then 11th to last.. Just doesn’t make any sense, especially when most people realise who the top 2 picks will be. Please reconsider this stupid idea
The Foxtel TV Guide is out for November – there is no mention of the AFL Draft being on any of the Fox Sports Channels.
Could this be a push for more AFL on foxtel in the new TV Rights for 2012.
If there is a draft can’t they just close the door, or in the case of AFL slam it shut?
@michael.
well dont bother making a comment
if the afl think this will be anything like the nba where everyone is glued to the tv set;’s they got another thing coming. this is the second or third time they have covered the draft
@mac, TEN used to show something. Im not sure if it was live though.
@leeds, It will probably be one of the Fox Sports commentators, like Brian Taylor or Gerard Healy.
Oh sport ho hum
was the draft shown on tv in previous years when in was on a sat afternoon
Any word on who’s hosting yet David??
Sorry too early! Actually spied it in the press.
I wonder if it will adopt a format similar to the NBA Draft in the States?
