Seven burns off True Beauty

After soft figures last night for its reality show, Seven will wind up its series with double eps across the next two weeks.

true-beautySeven appears to be burning off True Beauty in a move that will now see double episodes played over the next two Thursdays.

The two hour reality eps screen at 9:30pm on August 13 & 20.

As a result Family Guy and American Dad are out for those dates.

Last night the show took 613,000 viewers.

Seven finished second to Nine last night, but from next week switches TV Burp to 8:30pm and the slightly racier Double Take to 9pm.

Meanwhile many AFL fans in Sydney and Brisbane are unhappy that The Footy Show no longer screens on 9HD at 9:30pm. With the introduction of GO! the channel now simulcasts Nine, meaning the AFL version doesn’t start till very late in those cities.

  1. I’m a fan of Amazing Race but I thought Amazing Race is too late to come to Australia . I’ve already finished the season on Youtube. They should broadcast at the same time with US

  2. The Problem remains the timeslot Nothing Else.People are coming home from work and most cities have a place on Thursday where people go out and enjoy themselves not to mention the people who work till 10 or 11pm and don’t get home till much later.

  3. @ bindi: According to the GO_TV twitter feed there will be no 9HD break aways until next year due to technical issues – which would appear to mean that 9 cannot broadcast 3 shows at the same time at the moment. Yes, legally they are allowed to, but they simply can’t at the moment. Therefore all we get is 9 and GO, with 9HD being a simulcast of 9 main. At least all shows made in HD on 9 main will be available in HD. I just wish that some GO shows would also be in HD when a show on 9 main is not made in HD.

  4. they don’t need to put the AFL footy show on GO! there is no reason why 9HD has to be a simulcast of 9, they are allowed to have 3 separate channels. if this is the only 9HD loss that seems to really bother people, which apparently it is, then they should just leave this breakaway as it is, surely it is not that hard to have 3 separate channels running just once a week.

  5. Exactly what I thought brisvegas when I saw this item. Someone somewhere wants to see it through to the end. Dare I mention Moonlight? Good on you channel 7.

  6. Bogues: Playing the opposite Footy Show would be an ‘alternative audience’. Very few viewers would watch both versions. Plus the NRL version isn’t exactly popular in AFL states and vice versa. Anyway it airs at 9:30, which won’t be exactly a popular timeslot on GO! at the start.

  7. Travis: The point of Go! is to offer an alternative to Nine program, and thus gain a higher viewing audience across the two channels. e.g. On Mondays they have female orientated programming on Nine (Farmer wants a Wife and Drop Dead Diva), and male orientated programming on Go (Dog Bounty Hunter)

  8. And add to the last paragraph: “However NRL fans in Sydney and Brisbane are excited that their show and 2008 Loggie Winner is now broadcast in HD” 🙂

Do you know how the ARL version rated on 9HD in the NRL states? The ratings figures seemed to lump all three versions (NRL 9 9:30, ARL 9HD 9:30 and ARL 9 midnight) all as on figure.

  9. Not into that show, but what I like about seven is they don’t axe an under performing show, they just give it double eps, shift it a bit later, to try and get it off screens.

For the third week in a row I’ve missed the last part of TV burp (i even gave it an extra 7 minutes, but no still not enough) because double take runs so over time (then again, while editing out ads for A-race I noticed 3 ad breaks were at or over the 4 minute mark, with one topping 4 minutes 20!!! Argh, I would have gone insane if I was watching that live).

  10. They did the same thing last year before the Olympics with The Amazing Race when ratings were less than stellar. Seven’s Thursdays will continue to drag for the next few weeks. I reckon they’ll fast-track Flash Forward in 6 weeks’ time, Thursday would be the ideal slot for it.

  11. i’m really liking this show. it’s a good laugh. but if it’s not rating what can you do?

i thought from the beginning that it looked like more of a late night show.

613,000 is not good but it still won 16-39. i wonder what 7 think they have that will do better? bones repeats?
or maybe some comedies to lead out of double take. earl could go twice a week maybe paired with gary unmarried or reaper. they could do female comedies; samantha who?/motherhood to contrast with the footy show. or maybe parks&recreation/surviving suburbia.

  12. that’s how it’s done! A show thats not getting rated highly – instead of dumping it, wrapping it up quicker. Are we paying attention yet C9 ?
