SBS will screen the acclaimed HBO miniseries John Adams next month.
The series on the second US President stars Paul Giamatti, Laura Linney, Tom Wilkinson and Rufus Sewell.
It has already screened on Pay Television but now it gets its first Free to Air broadcast in Australia. The lavish 7 part drama had garnered a slew of awards including 13 Emmys, 4 Golden Globes and 3 SAGs.
In an emotionally charged trial John Adams defends the British sentries involved in the Boston Massacre who contend they were provoked into firing on the assembled crowd. John’s success brings him offers of positions in the Massachusetts government. But after John Hancock rouses a crowd to tar and feather a representative of the British East India Tea Company and the British respond to the growing unrest with oppressive measures, John instead speaks against the British policies and chooses to represent Massachusetts in the Continental Congress.
It screens from 9:30pm Sunday, 6 December on SBS ONE.

A very good historical drama from Showcase, though slightly dour given the subject!
Worth watching.
I’ll have to set myself some kind of reminder because I never watch sbs so on the rare occasions there is something on I tend to forget it, I forgot entourage a few times.
Great to see this mini series on FTA.
