The Nine Network again won another week of summer despite Seven having seven of the Top 10 shows for the week. Such is the icing on the cake that is digital channels.
Nine won with 27.5% ahead of Seven’s 26.7% and TEN’s 19.5%. The ABC had 19.0% and SBS 7.3%.
This week TEN just inched ahead of the ABC in Total People.
Top show for the week was Seven News (Sunday) with 1.26m viewers.
Official ratings resume February 7th.

Anyone remember The D-Generation / Late Show’s old send-up of Channel Nine’s promo ‘We’re Still Number One!” but in the send-up they were referring to their ABC channel with “we’re still number four!”…? Well, that skit is in serious danger of becoming redundant. It’s Ten’s own fault for slipping in the ratings, but who cares? They earn their living by adverti$ing toward$ teenager$. That’s why they air “Home Alone’, plus ‘Speed’ again last night and have a rotating door policy for The Office. They don’t care what shows you watch, as long as you take in all the ads – why? Becuz it is free TV. Could be time for them to rethink their digital station though……
Yep ran that clip here in December. Hilarious.
Point taken, yes, ABC3 does close at 9pm, but remember the fact that SBSTwo is usually news until 7:30pm, and “closes” at Midnight-ish. So really, excluding the news broadcasts, that’s only 4 & 1/2 hours to gain an audience.
ABC3 has 6am to 9pm to gain an audience, with a much larger demographic.
Out of interest, does anyone know the rough total figures of viewers per week? (I.e. All days, all shows added together) I’m guessing it’s in the region of 12mil.
Yes, SBS TWO beats ABC3 by 0.1% but keep in mind ABC3 closes at 9pm, so it only has half the night to attract ratings share given that these shares are only counted from 6pm – midnight.
Nine would have gotten a slight boost from the Cricket. Will be interesting how it pans out this week, with the Aussie Open vs Cricket!
Heh. Even SBS Two is doing better than ABC3! Sad…
While seven do have a lot of factuals which don’t really interest me they do have a lot more variety over their 2 channels.
Find it hard to believe people are crapping on TEN for their poor programming. So what? Are Seven’s crappy New Zealand factuals that much more appetising? Is Nine’s umpteenth 2.5 Men repeat or Miss Congeniality 2 rpt that much of a masterstroke? Pfft.
Home Alone 2: Lost In New York is an excellent movie, although it was on not that long ago plus I’ve got it on DVD so I won’t be tuning in. Hard to believe it’s almost 20 years old.
Well done, TEN.. Second thoughts ,now, about your abysmal decisions?????
I’m sure we will see the digital viewing figures will increase throughout the year as more people take up digital TV now that there’s the incentive of more channels.
But with Ten programming Home Alone 2, no wonder their ratings are plummeting. Who do they expect is going to watch it, there will probably be approximately 200 seven year olds watching it in the whole country.
The 2nd (and 3rd) channels has changed the ratings game as was shows in the weeks after GO! was launched and the summer weeks. 2010 will be interesting and the final ratings will be close.
I noticed TEN are not wanting to win the ratings tonight, that’s why they chose to play Home Alone at 6:30.
