Top Gear added to GO!

GO! is getting old Top Gear, plus updates on The Bachelor and ER.

Nine shows no sign of discerning titles between Nine and GO! as it adds old episodes of Top Gear to GO!

Episode 2 from Series 9 will air at 8:30pm Thursday March 4, following more Big Bang Theory repeats.

That pushes ER back to 9:40pm for the premiere of its 15th series with a single episode. That’s the umpteenth start time for ER fans.

Meanwhile plans for The Bachelor next Tuesday at 8:30pm are now out, replaced by Seinfeld repeats.

  1. What’s most frustrating about the Bachelor movements is that on Nine, Ellen is often talking about the plot and interviewing cast members from the current US series – which from last two seem to be reality TV slapper town fun.

I don’t understand the Seinfeld repeat logic for who knows how many times. Most of the real Seinfeld fans would own the box sets etc.

Can’t Nine just slot the Bachelor into Go on Friday night? Seriously, the promise of a youth channel with specific themed nights was so exciting and well planned and it’s all gone to the toilet now Nine programmers have seen it can help them win the overalls.

  2. @Stan did you hear BBC Knowledge have the uncut (international) version of the winter special coming up in March… Oh and if you want to see the full 59 minute UK version go over to iTunes and DL for $2.99.

  3. @ andrew B…… mate… over saturation???? geee!! thats a silly statement!! Top Gear will do very well for nine and GO!…. aussies love their cars…
I think u need to research your answers a little better!!….
Its a very smart move by Nine/GO! well done!!!

  4. @Andrew B. Top Gear new episodes start on Tuesday, with the American Special after it, and Go! is show repeats of older episodes on Thursday. I don’t see how it’s out of place, it’s like saying Dog the Bounty Hunter is out of place The programs being aired on Go! seems to reach nearly ever demographic, kids shows on in the morning and mid afternoon, all the trendy shows, the reality, the old sitcoms, and recent sitcoms, movies that haven’t been seen on the Nine. It seemed like a logic step to show older episode on Go!, they should have been doing it before the new episodes started

  5. Andrews if they did that then Nine would never get to the re-runs, here we are the end of Feb and only one ep has been aired, granted the Olympics has messed things up but if this was on SBS we’d be over half way through the series already.

I don’ thing once a week on GO! is over exposure, just look at BBC Knowledge they have it 7 days a week. Question is on GO! will they be edited down from the 50 or so minutes the BBC send them to 40 or so for more ads?

  6. I think the reason Nine Go etc are always tweaking program schedules is they are trying to be the no1 network since channel 7 took over this status a few years back.

It is interesting that as soon as Nine puts a factual on like Customs all of a sudden it rates like crazy.

All of a sudden 7 sees this and shuffles their programming removing their factual.

So I think that explains it . If Nine were No 1 and Seven wasn’t , Seven would be making constant changes all the time to its lineup.

Am I right in saying all this ?

  7. I don’t see a problem with having shows on both 9 and GO, after all ABC does it and GO having separate name and branding doesn’t prohibit Nine from doing it too.

  8. What is the point of having multi channels when a show about nothing replaces content that offers something different. Just what are the ratings for Seinfeld these days?

Thank you David for keeping us informed.

  9. @ Stephen H – GO! showed the whole of the 2007 season of The Bachelor last month. Yes it was repeated late night and the next day.

Their plans were to show the next season but this is most likely on hold now.

So it’s not like they removed the series whilst it was playing or something like that.

  10. I hate this channel so much full of false promise and has delivered next to nothing as long as 7two remains loyal then that will be my digital channel of choice is The Bachelor still on at 1am or 2pm the next day or even back the following week thanks For keeping us informed David.

  11. 1. I suppose because of the type of show it is , it wouldn’t matter if they show episodes 2 instead of 1… unless there was some continuity in it

    2. At least E.R has a new home and they are making an effort to show the episodes and get the series finished off on the second channel.

    3. They should show the next season of The Bachelor 2008 series, I mean who wants to see Seinfeld for the 999th time lol.

  12. @ Scott – They had previously shown the latest 2007 season of The Bachelor on GO! and were going to show the 2008 season called London Calling.

The plans were to start this in March…. maybe later now. I wish they would show it as apparently we are 3 seasons behind the United States.
