ABC to delay Gallipoli Dawn Service in some states

ABC has a comprehensive coverage of ANZAC Day events, but not every state will see the Gallipoli Dawn Service live.

This ANZAC Day the ABC1 will air capital city marches to viewers in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Hobart, Canberra and Darwin.

In a comprehensive coverage of ANZAC Day events ABC1 will also screen the commemorative ceremonies from Gallipoli and Villers-Bretonneux in France.

But not all states will see the Gallipoli Dawn Service live, as it follows state marches which start at varying times.

The Gallipoli Dawn Service airs live at 12:30pm AEST in NSW. In Victoria it screens at 1pm.

It will air at 12pm local time in SA and WA, and 12:30 local time in NT (Qld & Tas TBA).

The ANZAC Day Dawn Memorial Service from Villers-Bretonneux, France is also live in NSW at 1:30pm and delayed in some states.

ABC2 will be screening the Lone Pine Service From Gallipoli 2010 on Sunday, April 25 at 6:00pm in all states.

ANZAC Day March 2010 (NSW) – ABC1 – Sunday April 25 at 9:00am

In Sydney ex-servicemen and women will march from the Martin Place Cenotaph, along George Street to the War Memorial in Hyde Park.

ANZAC Day March 2010 (VIC) – ABC1 – Sunday April 25 at 9:00am
One of Australia’s most important national occasions, it marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. In Melbourne ex-servicemen and women meet to take part in the annual march along St Kilda Road to the Shrine of Remembrance. This is followed by a Commemorative Service also held at the Shrine.

ANZAC Day March 2010 (QLD) – ABC1 – Sunday April 25 at 10:00am
Live coverage of 2010 Anzac Day March in Queensland. One of Australia’s most important national occasions, it marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. In Brisbane ex-servicemen and women meet to take part in the annual March.

ANZAC Day March 2010 (TAS) – Sunday April 25 at 11:00am
One of Australia’s most important national occasions, it marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. In Hobart ex-servicemen and women meet for the annual march along Macquarie St to the Hobart Cenotaph for a Commemorative Service.

ANZAC Day March 2010 (SA) – ABC1 – Sunday April 25 at 9:00am
ABC TV in Adelaide provides comprehensive and exclusive coverage of the local Dawn Service conducted at the State National War Memorial, followed by live coverage of the local Anzac Day March, concluding with live coverage of the traditional Service of Remembrance conducted at the Cross of Sacrifice.

ANZAC Day March 2010 (NT) – ABC1 – Sunday April 25 at 11:00am
One of Australia’s most important national occasions, ANZAC Day marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. In Darwin ex-servicemen and women meet to take part in the annual March along the Esplanade to the Cenotaph.

ANZAC Day March 2010 (WA) – ABC1 – Sunday April 25 at 9:15am
Live coverage of Anzac March and Service in Perth on April 25, 2010. One of Australia’s most important national occasions, it marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. In Perth ex-servicemen and women meet to take part in the annual march to the State War Memorial to mark ANZAC Day.

ANZAC Day March 2010 (ACT) – ABC1 – Sunday April 25 at 10:30am
Live coverage of 2010 Anzac Day March and national service from Canberra. Marking the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. In Canberra ex-servicemen will take part in the annual march to the National War Memorial.

  1. “The Gallipoli Dawn Service airs live at 12:30pm AEST in NSW. It will air delayed at 12pm local time in SA”. Wouldn’t that make it live in SA (given the 30 minutes time difference)?

    “In Victoria it screens at 1pm”. It will be live to the eastern states (including Victoria) on ABC HD, which always takes the Sydney feed, with delays only to SA, NT and WA (and Qld in summer)
