  1. Top Gear, which now shows on Nine in what the network has said to be “broadcasting in the international format” is outrating the original screenings of some of the episodes on SBS. Is this a first for Australian television, I wonder? I found it hard to believe that this is the case as I understand many of the original fans of the show are not tuning in, or tuning out early because of the new presentation style. If the ratings figures are, in reality, accurate then Top Gear would in fact be the highest rated weekly show ever televised in Australia. I preferred the coverage on SBS as the network had the intellect to understand the nuances of the show, something the dumb it down network fails to.

  2. @GuanoLad and Trent – I am in the same position too with 7, but to a greater extent. I’ve only watched one show on 7 all year and that was the Life After People documentary. So that’s 1.5 hours out of about 2,600.

  3. Speaking if pvr ratings, I really (really) hope that GO! has been hit hard by the addition of home shopping and subsequent removal of early morning repeats.

  4. I love these end of week ratings reviews. It’s interesting to see how similar my viewing habits are to the nation (or oztam sample). Good to see the pacific went well, although that could be because they constantly played 3 minute promos for 2 weeks leading. Good idea considering the nature and cost of the series. It’s gone a heck of a lot better here than it did in the states. I guess series will make most of it’s money in DVD sales.

  5. @ Scott – I agree but it’s a sign of the times. Reality TV and variety style shows generally have lower production costs than scripted drama/comedy, and seem to be the elixir of the masses for now – sad but true. Swings and roundabouts though.

  6. It is quite laughable how people are passionate about tv stations.TV shows i can understand but the networks?Give me a break. You watch what you watch.Go UKTV.

  7. GuanoLad, I feel like I am in exactly the same situation, only with Channel Seven. The only times I watched Channel Seven last week, were to watch Australia’s Got Talent and The Pacific. This week, I’ll probably only watch AGT.

  8. @buddy029 they are taking a gamble with MC at 7:30 and yes you would have thought they would have learnt from TBL tens reality always works best at 7pm the only reson the 7PM has been picking up is because of the final weeks TBL

  9. The most I’ve watched of Nine all year was this week. I watched the first twenty minutes of “Hey Hey,” then abandoned it.

It surprises me how little I watch of one particular channel. It’s almost like it is deliberately programmed opposite to my interests.

  10. I really think 10 is taking a gamble playing Master Cheif at 7.30pm and running it for an hour and a half. People have got their veiwing options locked in at 8.30pm. Think 10 would have learnt from the poor performance of Biggest Losser, 7.30 not a great time to start a show, half way through the year. That runs for 3 months. They going to take a hit for this….

  11. Still only six scripted dramas in the top twenty and really only four if you count the Underbelly and Pacific double episodes are taken into account. Disgraceful really.

  12. ten got their lowest weely share since OzTam Began excluding olympic weeks.

from those final figures looks like the Pacific and Hey hey was not a close battle at all.

  13. TEN would be thanking their lucky starts ‘MC’ has arrived to save the day – they’re a long way behind the 18-49 demo at 3rd place, and only just coming 2nd within 16-39. Big week ahead for all three networks though, with the reality-battle coming into full force. Nine’s Tuesdays shall change after the end of fresh ‘Top Gear’ this week, but who will capitalise most upon that – Seven or TEN?

  14. GO Nine!!!
That was a great win. I love Underbelly, 60 Minutes and Sea Patrol, a shame to see NCIS take a dive though.
Im sure this week will be much closer
Also good to see Hot Seat beat Deal or No Deal and 9News and ACA win over 7News and TodayTonight in Sydney and Melbourne
I’m tipping Master Chef to premiere to 1.6 million
