Renewed: Parenthood

NBC renews the movie spin-off starring Peter Krause and Lauren Graham for a second season.

NBC has renewed Parenthood for a second season.

It joins Community as their second scripted new show from the Fall Season to be renewed.

After a somewhat erratic start, the show is averaging almost 8 million viewers and a 3.2 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic. A ratings point in that demographic equals 1.3 million viewers.

Recently it has also been rivalling The Good Wife in the 18-49 demographic.

NBC’s Angela Bromstad said in a statement, “We are so happy to welcome back this multilayered and compelling series about an extended American family for another season.

“It’s gratifying that Parenthood continues to garner critical acclaim and is generating highly positive reaction from viewers, thanks to the fearless creativity of its producers and the extraordinary performances delivered by its ensemble cast.”

NBC still has to decide if it will bring back Chuck next season, as well as Law & Order. Meanwhile it is working on yet another spin-off of Law & Order, this one set in Los Angeles.

The renewal is good news for Seven which holds the Australian rights to the show, starring Peter Krause, Craig T. Nelson and Lauren Graham, who replaced Maura Tierney.

  1. Parenthood may very well be the only worthwhile hour long program left on NBC. I’m willing to stand corrected but I can do without another season of Heroes, Mercy, Trauma and yes, Chuck.

  2. Happy to have Parenthood back. I have been enjoying it. Perhaps Seven will start screening it soon and be up to date with new eps when it starts up again in September.

  3. I just read that NBC is likely to return Chuck and Heroes (but still not official) Heroes is likely to return with a 13 ep final season.

So good to wake up to the Parenthood news today, just in time for a new ep. Now if only Seven would announce an air date, maybe following the Rafters when they return is not out of the question now?
