Skins reveals new cast

E4 has revealed the new kids for Skins, the second time the show has refreshed its principal cast.

E4 has revealed the new kids for Skins, who join the series from Season 5.

They are from L to R: Alex Arnold, Dakota Blue Richards, Sean Teale, Sebastian De Souza, Will Merrick, Laya Lewis, Freya Mavor, and Jessica Sula.

This is the second time the show has refreshed its principal cast as a way of keeping the show true to its teen premise. Five of them were chosen from 7000 hopefuls at this year’s open auditions.

On the official website Dakota Blue Richards said: “I’ve been asking for years to get a part on Skins because I’ve always loved the series and wanted to be in it. Finally this year I’m old enough to play a part! It’s crazy to be part of this Skins phenomenon, it’s as much a lifestyle choice as anything because of the attention that comes with it. We are eight friends on screen as well off screen so we have the same dynamic that you’ll see in the series.”

Sean Teale said, “Hello, I’m Sean and I’m from London. I got the part the day before my birthday so it was the best birthday present I could have ever hoped for! It’s really strange to think I’m part of this new series. It hasn’t really sunk in that I’m in the cast yet. So far I’ve had the best time filming. I’m having fun and I’m so lucky to be part of this incredible legacy!”

Series 4 is currently airing Monday nights on SBS ONE.

  1. Skins introduce their generations this way.

Sure, from the first promo stills they look just like any other kids and perhaps not that exciting. It’s not until the series actually starts and they begin to explore the various characters then the personalities emerge, with Skins kicking the marketing into gear.

  2. @anthony

I read at interview with the Jamie Brittain the other day and he said that one of the female characters will be in the tradition of Skins’ portrayal of sexuality.

  3. When i saw you write ‘second time the cast is refreshed’, i knew there’d be someone thinking you had made a typo.. hehe

The first photo of the cast typically makes them look boring, because it’s not till you start learning about the characters that will actually make them more interesting. It was the same with the 2nd gen.

David, do you have any idea as to how many eps will be in the new season? They seem to keep cutting them down. I think it’s gone from the initial season having 12, to the most recent having 8.

  4. They don’t look very exciting!! Hope there’s a gay/lesbian character, though not sure if they should do that again since it’s been doing that 2 generations running
