Davy Jones wants Monkees reunion

Only a year ago, Davy Jones flatly ruled out getting back together with his old bandmates. Now he's a Believer.

Former Monkees lead singer Davy Jones  is working on plans for a reunion by The Monkees.

Jones says, “We’re talking about doing a tour next year with The Monkees. There’s talk about a show with dialogue.”

Only a year ago, Jones flatly ruled out getting back together with bandmates Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork and Michael Nesmith, all of whom are now in their 60s.

“It’s not a case of dollars and cents. It’s a case of satisfying yourself. I don’t have anything to prove. The Monkees proved it for me,” he said at the time.

The four comprised the TV pop band which generated hits with the songs “I’m a Believer”, “(I’m Not Your) Steppin’ Stone”, “Daydream Believer”, “Last Train to Clarksville”, and “Pleasant Valley Sunday.”

But the 64 year old says, “My thing is I just don’t want to get on stage with a bunch of old guys.”

Dolenz has been performing regularly in his own shows, and touring with ’60s singers Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits and Mark Lindsay, formerly of Paul Revere and the Raiders.

  1. This a great idea,I have been a fan since I was 11,stll am .Going to the reunion concert in July.Tacomma Wa.. It would be great if they can do a telavision special. Good luck and hope it happens Joan they desirve it

  2. Would love to see it happen one more time – with Mike included – as it should be! Maybe they were influenced by what happened with Michael Jackson and the “This Is It” tour – I don’t know. It would be Great!!!

  3. I agree with Tony – Mike Nesmith was always the one who didn’t want to join any reunions – and now suddenly Davy Jones is the one who didn’t want to do it??

Would be nice if they teamed up properly I guess – but they better get their skates on – they’re getting a little long in the tooth these days!

  4. Would be great to see them back together & although concerts would be cool please no new music. The stuff from the 60s is brilliant and anything new would pale in comparison.

  5. I loved watching The Monkees when I was at school, I can’t remember if it was a week day show or a Saturday morning one. I remembr The Brady Bunch episode when Marcia was trying to get Davy Jones to go to her school dance, cheesiness at its best.
Sorry to here Peter Tork has been ill.

  6. It would be great to see the the original lineup including Mike Nesmith, especially for the fans who remember the show during it’s original run as well as the feature movie “Head”, but sadly Peter Tork has been very ill in recent years and I’m not so sure he would so enthusiastic about it.
