The Syfy Network has just ordered a new Battlestar Galactica series telemovie: Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome.
Set ten years into the first Cylon war (about four decades before BSG), it centres on a young William Adama.
BSG executive producer David Eick is back on board, though Ronald Moore, is not.
Blood & Chrome is also the name of planned webisodes.
“The Galactica universe as re-imagined by Ron Moore and David Eick is rich with possibilities and backstory,” said Syfy programming head Mark Stern. “We jumped at the chance to revisit the William Adama character and explore this exciting chapter in the BSG narrative which falls between the events of the original series and the prequel, ‘Caprica,’ currently airing on Syfy.”
“While maintaining the themes of politics, social propaganda, and the timeless question: what does it mean to be human? – Blood & Chrome will also return us to the authentic, relentless depiction of combat and the agony and ecstasy of human-Cylon war, which was the hallmark of Battlestar Galactica’s early seasons,” said David Eick.
No word yet if Caprica, will get a second season.

Caprica has been cancelled, hopefully this new project will get picked up as a full series now.
SyFy in the US has a bad habit of running a half season then having a 6-9 month gap to the rest of the season.
@Denis : I stand corrected. This new run ‘feels’ like a season 2.
Caprica is not into season Two,the show had a few month hiatus and picked up again at episode 10 or 9 if the Pilot is counted and is Scheduled to run until 17 of the first season.
Bit concerned over Ron’s absence. He was the creative brains.
Caprica is already into season 2.
This new BSG series has me frakkin’ excited!
IMO, should’ve just kept BSG going, even after they found Earth.
Caprica has picked up but it’s still nothing like it’s parent series. I’m watching it but I’m not disappointed when the Ep finishes and I’m not hanging out for next week like I was before with New BSG S1-3.
This might be good. Unfortunately there’ll be no Olmos, Mary McDonnell, or Katie Sackhoff. Maybe I’ll have to settle for Number Six.
There is no upcoming web series any more, they are making this back door pilot instead of the web series.
Word on the renewal/cancellation for Caprica is expected by November 15.
