Brett Lee joins Nine

Cricketer Brett Lee will make appearances on Nine’s news, current affairs, lifestyle and sports programs including ACA, 60 Minutes and Getaway.

As reported in media on the weekend, cricketer Brett Lee has joined the Nine Network.

Under the long-term agreement Lee, 34, will make appearances on a number of Nine’s news, current affairs, lifestyle and sports programs including ACA, 60 Minutes and Getaway.

He joins other Nine sports personalities including Grant Hackett, Giaan Rooney, Wally Lewis, Michael Slater and Darren Lockyer.

Lee says he will still continue with some cricketing commitments in One Day and Twenty20 international cricket.

Brett Lee is known throughout the cricketing world as one of the fastest and most exciting pace bowlers to play the game. He has been recorded bowling at speeds of over 160km/h, leaving batsmen with only a fraction of a second to react once the ball leaves his hand. Intimidating whilst charming, decent yet ferocious, he is also known for his quick one-liners and his gutsy bottom-order batting.

Outside of cricket, Lee has a number of other interests. He has a love of music, has formed a band, the White Shoe Theory, and written a number of songs for the album they hope to launch later this year. He also launched in India, with Asha Bhosle, You’re the One, a single for which he co-wrote the lyrics, and watched it go to No 1 in the Indian music charts.

Lee was named the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year in 2000 and Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 2006. In 2008, he won the Test Player of the Year Award and the prestigious Allan Border Medal for Cricketer of the Year. He recently retired from Test cricket, having played 76 Tests for Australia and taken 310 wickets. He now plans to concentrate on One Day and Twenty20 international cricket.

  1. Yeah personalities change networks all the time – Bert went from Nine to TEN and back to Nine. Ditto Daryl but with Seven. Seven news has a number of ex – Nine news readers etc etc.

  2. Catfan…take one look at the current stars on 7…they mostly were stars on 9 as well… get with the program…your comment was dumb..and smacks of a 7 employee or similar… Michaeloz…u are spot on

  3. Shane Warne has got his talk show coming up. Putting aside what a bogan he is and that he’s no Ray Martin or George Negus, it should rate well
for Nine, for the celebs he’s interviewed for it.

  4. Oh Please, CatFan….. like it’s the first time in history people have changed networks….

Ten’s done it.. (Paul Mcdermott), Sevens done it…(everybody)… ABC has done it..(Negus)…. It’s common practice.

In regards to Jen Hawkins, it’s been Widely reported she is freelancing. She decides where to go…

  5. You hope they can keep all of these people busy.

ack in the ’80s, Nine poached a heap of talent from 7 & 10 and promptly warehoused them with nothing to do. For some people such as Jo Pearson it was the end of their careers.

  6. So Nine’s up to the old trick of pinching another networks talent rather than taking chances (like Ch10) and developing it’s own new talent. Jennifer Hawkins will be the next one no doubt.
