ABC1 will air Cricket: Women’s T20: Australia Vs England live AEDT next month from Canberra, but it will be delayed in states not on AEDT.

Hosting the coverage will be ABC TV Sports presenter Stephanie Brantz, joined by three special guests – long time cricket tragics, Julian Morrow and Chas Licciardello, and ABC3 children’s presenter Amberley Lobo.

Cricket returns to ABC TV when Australia’s Southern Stars women’s cricket team battle the old enemy, England, in the deciding three games of the Women’s International T20 series – LIVE AEDT from Canberra on January 16th, 17th and 18th on ABC1.

Capturing all the colour and excitement of the 20-over-a-side matches will be a vibrant team of ABC TV commentators including ABC Grandstand commentator Quinton Hull, and iconic cricket broadcaster, Jim Maxwell.

Stephanie says Chas and Julian will bring their own inimitable analysis to the telecasts.

“I’m looking forward to Chas and Julian entertaining and even educating a new generation of cricket lovers,” she says. “They have years of backyard Ashes games and couch potato viewing experiences to call upon.”

ABC 3’s Amberley Lobo will also impart her own insightful thoughts on each day’s play while making sense of the multitude of information about the game and its participants.

Amberley devours cricket and lists Glen McGrath as her most inspirational cricketer – especially when she’s marking out a 33-pace run-up during her many games of backyard cricket.

Amberley will be spending her time on both sides of the boundary fence soliciting the views and opinions of the players and fans – especially the younger spectators – during breaks in play.

It airs 12pm Sunday January 16th on ABC1.

  1. She used to host the NBL games on 9 on Sunday mornings a couple of years ago when the NBL’s main TV partner was Fox Sports. Thankfully it’s now back on FTA on One HD.

  2. i’m just glad steph got a gig after being boned by Nine and the cricket mens club. she was poached from SBS as a sports reader to Nine to give them a nice touchy feely feminine sense they lack in the male domain of aussie cricket. Then the aussie cricket team refused straight up any interviews by her simply because she is a woman. so for the past 2 years or so she has been in sports world limbo. and she has a fine sporting mind and an easy to listen to voice with a head full of knowledge. Onya steph

  3. Why does the Nine Network have any rights to this. I say give it all to ABC they would at least broadcast it in full. Again we on the Central and Western part of Australia are always left behind unfair.

  4. It’s catch 22, people say they don’t like women cricket but don’t get a change to see it on FTA very ofter, so if they don’t put it on how will people see it and give it a chance, can’t be any worse than they guys this week.

  5. I find it strange that, given the two teams play five Twenty20 matches, Nine has the rights to the first two at Adelaide Oval and the MCG but will only show parts of them, while the ABC will show the last three, but no live telecast in states not on AEDT. With programs like Insiders still on holidays, and with children’s programs on ABC2 and ABC3, the ABC can afford to show all three matches live around the country without affecting their commitment to children’s programming.
