Television winners at the 63rd annual DGA Awards included directors from Modern Family, Temply Grandin and Boardwalk Empire.

Television winners at the 63rd annual DGA Awards included directors from Modern Family, Temply Grandin and Boardwalk Empire -which went to Martin Scorsese.

Although Martin Scorsese flew to Los Angeles for the dinner, held at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland, illness prevented him from attending. An acceptance made on his behalf noted the series was, “one of the greatest and most energizing experiences I’ve had in 45 years of making movies. Thank you — and get your flu shots.”

The evening, hosted by Carl Reiner, marked the beginning of the DGA’s year-long celebration of its 75th anniversary.

  1. Modern Family was my favourite show of 2010, but the ep it won the DGA for was the Halloween episode – that i found the weakest, least funny and a bit shrill! Perhaps from a directing point of view it was ok – lots of timing stuff and sight gags. Curious for me, anyway it was the one they submitted and won! Great show
