Report: Hamish & Andy poised for Nine

Hamish & Andy are reportedly poised to sign a 3 year deal with Nine that gives them complete creative control.

They have previously been at TEN and Seven, but Hamish & Andy could now be headed to the Nine Network, according to the Sunday Herald Sun.

The popular radio and TV presenters are poised to sign a 3 year deal with Nine that gives them complete creative control.

The deal would see them produce under their own Radio Karate production company.

Until now, most projects have been produced via Roving Enterprises for Network TEN. Both have proven very popular with the TEN audience. Their radio success and appearances in shows such as Spicks and Specks also ensures they have broad appeal.

Recently a TEN source told TV Tonight, talks with the pair were progressing well.

  1. @Stu – Hamish and Andy will be fine as neither of their surnames begin with ‘M’. Somers doesn’t belong in that list as he’s not actually a comedian.

  2. Hamish and Andy on radio was nowhere near as good as their 7 show.
Nine is a comedian death-trap. Micallef, Molloy, McManus, Molloy, Somers, Molloy, Marmalade, Molloy…

  3. Such a mistake on their part.

“Complete creative control” is a total misnomer, there’s always a network EP who approves what will be broadcast, not to mention sponsors who are often easily offended. It’s very likely Nine will sign them and sit them in development for 18 months before they get around to approving a series, by which time the talent have been off the boil so long they’ve been forgotten about.

  4. Well they did leave radio to pursue more television work so if that’s what they’ve done i don’t see how they’re sell outs

However the only thing i watch on Nine is Embarrassing Bodies. I won’t know when or how often Hamish and Andy will be on so i guess this means goodbye from me fellas

  5. All three if their tv specials last year were produced by their company “radio karate” so we can only expect the same quality and they are not sell outs as they said they were going to think of an idea and then see what channel it suited, they obviously believed that with it’s new comedy line up, nine would be best.
Whatever they do is amazing in my opinion and the channel is irrelevant.

  6. @ ellie I know exactly what you mean. You get people here who hate either 7,9 or 10 and always have something negative to say about that station. Something about Nine in particular seems to enrage some people.

Anyway not really a fan of H&A (although I like Hamish by himself on shows like S&S) but they seem popular so if it’s true this could be a coup for Nine.
