Clean sweep as Seven rules

The Seven Network has not just won the second week of official ratings, it has blown the competition out of the water.

The Seven Network has not only won the second week of official ratings, it has blown Nine out of the water.

Seven has utterly dominated in weekly share, demos, nights won and taking all 5 metro cities.

By coding My Kitchen Rules as 3 separate shows it has cleverly scooped up 8 of the week’s Top Ten shows. Nine only had one entertainment show over one million viewers, Underbelly while the Primary Channel share for both Nine and TEN were both under 20%.

Packed To The Rafters was again the #1 show for the week on 1,815,000.

  1. @ David Knox …. wow! impressive that u can do that with a click! and Wow! thanks for doing that favour!
Iam not questioning anyone’s loyalty, I just say it… so what if they like 7,9,10 etc.. its their right. as its my right to say what I said.

U do a good job on this site and in the media… But dont make me an example… their are worst ppl making stupid comments!

  2. ohyeah, we all know you’re the same guy as vid. Terrible grammar, same one-minded opinions and annoying attempts to pick fights with everyone on this site. Just let it go mate, you’re embarrassing yourself.

  3. @ David…. I dont know where u get the idea I favour 9… I dont..
Newsflash: I favour the industry. but I dont favour 7 as they are very cockie!

Rating are a handy tool for the advertisers. but at the end of the day david, I dont need the ratings to tell me what I should watch.
and so u know. 7’s win this is not a walkover! but its close..

    1. I get it from the collective comments you have made across this site. Newsflash: I can see them all with the click of a button, but I will do you a favour and refrain from republishing them here.

There is no law against people favouring one network over another, but if you question the loyalty of others then you should expect the same.

Ratings are not published here as a recommendation of what to watch. They are a measure of where the numbers fell. I’ll be publishing them again next week whether it’s Seven, Nine or even SBS.

    1. Ohyeah: Given you defend them so much would you say ‘who cares’ if Nine won? Newsflash: This is a TV blog. I report ratings whoever wins. Last I checked ratings were pretty important in the biz you tell us you work in.

Viewers are winners when we have healthy competition, not when it’s a walkover.

  4. Minor error under Digital Channels, meant to say ABC2: 1.8 instead of ABC1: 1.8, i’m being picky i know! While the only shows I watch on Seven are Home & Away and Parenthood, their schedule is the strongest which is reflected in their ratings. Nine treat their shows like garbage, being shuffled around between channels, repeated to death… and then they wonder why their ratings are down. As for Ten, I hope their news improves, much better than the junk on Seven and Nine, i can’t even listen to the Today Tonight ad when i hear it on the radio. But also feel like they should switch George and Evening News around and bring back their 5pm weekend news.

  5. @Allie. my kitchen rules a clever master stroke. more like riding on the coat tails of the boom of master chef. the people who created come dine with me. should be asking for a fair sum of money from 7. because they just copied that show and added a couple of experts to the show

  6. great to see 7 clean up the week and demos that deserve it with the stable of shows that keep them in the winning position and not all the nonsence that 9 is wiping all over us.

    1. James, I know I am expected to know that kinda stuff of the top of my head, but the reality is I would use the same search function up the top of this page as you to check for sure. But as we have seen some digitals reach as high as about 7% before I reckon I have written that GO! has previously beaten both SBS channels combined before. Don’t quote me but that’s my gut instinct.

  7. I’m going to take a different tact than everyone else.

I feel sorry for Seven, I think at the moment they’re reaching the pinacle of their success. Which is great now, but soon it won’t be because if this is the pinacle then the only way to go is well, down, led by Packed to the Rafters because its their highest rating show. As soon as Rebecca Gibney or… I don’t know the other guy (I don’t watch it…. I think its a terrible show personally, but the numbers don’t lie.) leave or they both leave the numbers will nose dive.

As for Nine, epic fail on TG. The saturation airings on Go! & Nine have alienated fans who would have turned out in droves if you’d done what ABC did with the Doctor Who Christmas Special and aired it almost the same day. I would have as well but in the end since I’d already seen it I didn’t bother to watch.

If you can’t find anything better than TG, Big Bang & Two & a Half Hookers and a Pound of Coke to air every night buy some better shows. Or make some, give people a show they actually want to watch. Take the novel idea of actually listening to your audience instead of decided what they want to watch for them.

    Ok… I’m done.

  8. I think 2011 is going to be yet another year of the Seven dominance. Obviously when Masterchef returns Seven will be down like last year but the difference this year is they have had a better start.

Seven are cleaning them up winning the demo’s and have won all but 1 night so far this year. Its a huge achievement. It also proves that Australia loves their drama. Nine’s schedule is full of comedy, literally. Their big guns, Underbelly, Top Gear, The Mentalist, Farmer, Men and even the new show Mike and Molly (which is rating huge in the US but not here) have all failed. They are not doing well at all. Less than 20% for their main channel is a joke. Plus they have most of their top content on now. That is what would be worrying for them. Sure the digital channels are working but if you look at it this way, Seven + 7two + 7mate are all performing well not just one or the other.

I think with the shows to come: Conviction Kitchen, AGT, DWTS, Winners and Losers, Amazing Race Australia and Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour plus a whole heap of others including the hyped Body of Proof yet to air in America, Seven will be in the box seat. TEN will make inroads when MC is here but it won’t be enough. Is it too early to declare Seven winners already? Probably but i don’t see the others catching them unless they flop dismally in the 2nd half.

  9. I’ve always been big fan of Channel Nine, but at this stage, even I have to say that their schedule is pretty dull at the moment. Seven truly have the best programs at the moment. They deserve to win and I’m happy that they are winning. The last two week’s figures have shown that Seven are pretty much set until Easter and like Jerome has said, it would be very unlikely for Seven to falter after Easter as well, with AGT, Amazing Race, Winners and Losers and popular factuals all on the way.

  10. Crisis meetings should be held at Nine from Monday. Get out there and take a few risks Nine on some new and fresh ideas (this does not mean Ben Elton!) otherwise this is going to be your Monday morning for the rest of the year.

  11. Nine is in a world of trouble at the moment, Seven is wiping the floor with them with so much ease that it is embarrassing. I’ve noticed over the last few years that Seven are much better risk takers than Nine, they have better programming instincts and their schedule appeals to a broader audience. My Kitchen Rules is a very clever masterstroke and will give Nine nightmares for many weeks to come as it is gaining momentum and has at least another 8 weeks to run. That’s three key nights per week where Nine has no chance to take out the evening due to MKR dominance. Also, critically,Seven’s 6pm news is much better than Nine, at least in Sydney. They have been trouncing Nine’s Sydney 6pm news for at least five years now. A Current Affair has been running on fumes for years, it’s tabloid/advertorial crap. Also, the pathetic “Home of Laughter” programming experiment has been a flop, a major bomb. People aren’t laughing with Nine, they are laughing at them.

  12. It is going to be a very good year for 7. considering what 7 have in their cupboard their lineup isn’t even that strong by their own standards. to be winning like this is a great achievement lets hope they dont get cocky though. when they start rolling out The Amazing Race Australia, Winners&Losers, Australias got talent, Airways, dancing with the stars, worlds strictest, four weddings, downton Abbey, and criminal minds: suspect behaviour (which has just premiered very well in america). after easter they will probably already have secured a yearly win.

9 dont have much to look forward to at all, everything good they had coming out of last year is in the schedule at the moment, and not performing.
