Pay TV ratings: Week 7

This year TV Tonight will break out Pay TV's weekly Top 100 as a separate posting.

This year TV Tonight will break out Pay TV’s weekly Top 100 as a separate posting, as many readers were having difficulty locating these in previous formats.

Please note there are two different measures offered here.

The Top 100 is based on 5 city metro averages only. This is the same measure as used for FTA. Note that Pay TV’s many replays of titles will result in averages going down rather than up.

The ASTRA results include regionals and are based on Reach -which reflects the amount of people who have sampled a show for 5 minutes or more.

For archival purposes I will ensure each week’s results are then linked to the weekly ratings too, under the corresponding week. This will be the best place to track them down if you are looking for old figures.

ASTRA Week 7

  1. @ Craig, even the Top rating PayTV sporting broadcast figures wouldn’t be enough to keep people from saying ONE HD is a failure. Everything other than the AFL NAB Cup was under 100,000.

  2. @Dave I would have to agree I wasn’t too sure about the big change to the panel but Steven and Jennifer have been quite good and enjoyable to watch. Lets see if the idol contestants can keep improving during the various eliminations.

Also Thank you David for posting this list just another great reason why I love this site.

  3. Funny how the top 6 shows is live sport, makes me wonder why ONE HD isn’t doing better int he ratings?

Just wondering since Foxtel and Austar knows exactly what shows/channel anyone is watching at any time why can’t the ratings work off that?

That’s for the added ratings info David.

  4. I watch 99% Foxtel and 1% FTA and like to see what other Foxtel viewers are watching. Wish we could have the Astra top 100 instead of 10 – is that all they publish? The FTA average system seems pointless as most programmes are repeated 3 times within 24hrs so would hugely affect the averages. According to this Eastenders viewed by 80,000 with an average of 20,000. why would anyone want to know the average?

  5. Thanks for going to the effort to convey these. Great to see what other subscribers are watching. Loving American Idol so far. Some interesting tales and singers, and strangely enjoying Steve Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. Simon who?

  6. I assume the number 9 most watched show is the classic Steven Seagal film. What a great result for a great film. Bring on Out for Justice, Hard to Kill
    and Above the Law.

  7. The ASTRA ratings are not based on reach. They give you the top 10 sports progs and they are listed the same as any other ratings. You can then find reach stats listed seperately. Reach does not determine what the top show is. B/cast only is the decider. assets.astra.org.au.s3.amazonaws.com/0cc3d03693227fe28351fc8f0a88a2c4/ASTRARatings20110206.pdf
