Angry Boys: first look

The ABC has released its first peek at Angry Boys, Chris Lilley's new comedy, which looks like being satirical, political and controversial.

The ABC has released its first peek at Angry Boys, Chris Lilley’s new 12 part comedy series, his follow up to Summer Heights High.

And by the looks of things, Lilley is back to being satirical, political and controversial.

The first characters revealed include Daniel and Nathan Sims, identical twins from Dunt. Both were seen in We Can be Heroes.

One of the new characters is, Jen Okazaki, described as “a softly spoken Japanese wife and mother of three. She is also an ambitious tyrant. Her primary focus is her son Tim, who she trained and pushed into becoming a skateboarding champion.”

The highly-anticipated series was filmed in Australia, the U.S. and Japan over a seven month period and painstakingly edited for an entire year by Lilley who is writer, director and performer.

Produced by Princess Pictures the series was made in conjunction with HBO and the BBC.

ABC1 has the global premiere but it will follow swiftly in other territories.

You can see the clip here (Warning: Language). NB: The clip is geo-blocked so as not to undermine the first UK glimpse in a Comedy Relief special later this week.

The ABC is yet to announce its airdate for the show.

  1. @garry I won’t go watch the opera. I will instead watch shows that are Actually funny – like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, Arrested Development, Childrens’ Hospital, American Dad, The Mighty Boosh and Monty Python, etc – Chris Lilley’s shows are overrated pieces of crap. Australian comedy is crapola, anyway – the only Australian comedian close to being funny is Shaun Micallef
