Hamish & Andy‘s project for Channel Nine will be a New York-based series.
While continuing their weekly radio show for Austereo they will set up shop in New York with a weekly show for Australia: Hamish & Andy’s Gap Year.
The announcement follows a lucrative signing by Nine after the pair walked away from TEN.
“Tragically, we never took a gap year after school, instead devoting ourselves to a gruelling six hours a week of university,” said Blake.
Lee added: “This year will be a chance to right that terrible wrong and at the same time enjoy our other passion: making television. America also serves soft drink in really huge cups, so Hame can’t wait.”
The duo have previously fronted overseas specials, including in the USA where they appeared on Jay Leno.
Said Blake: “The whole point of this gap year is to see where the journey will take us, who we might meet, and what might happen. Sort of like a choose-your-own-adventure book, but hopefully with fewer dragons. Actually on second thought, finding a dragon would be terrific. We should look into that.”
It will air on Nine later this year.

i think you can hire those nypd cars for weddings but they dont have to know its not for a wedding hahaha 🙂
This show is gonna be awesome!

i think i will watch wet paint dry
Bring back Hey Hey!
Let’s face it, Nine hasn’t had much luck with Australian comedy over the last decade. I doubt this will be an exception.
LMAO!! This has turkey written all over it. What a stupid idea and Nine are paying for these guys to live in NYC for a year? Talk about come down in the last shower. I don’t think these two are really suited to TV and I don’t think they will deliver big ratings on a weekly basis.
Yay! 🙂 love ’em ;):) and they rock on the road :):)
Every ‘C’ grade celebrity from NY week in week out should be riveting stuff, sure the walking clueless will love it.
Bring back Hey Hey! haha!
Fitzy and whippa on Nova has brought fresh new funny to our ears… I would like to see them battle these two.
Nine keep making rotten decisions.
Well it’s not as if Nine has any better ideas.
In before the “Axed” prefex on this show, as it seems to be the only certain thing that Nine can do.
Fitzy and Wippa are funnier now 😉
Good to see that it is not going to be a simple variety show trying to replace rove. There is only so many consecutive flops before the network decides people don’t want it.
But I feel 9 has become like NBC. can’t make anything work if their lives depended on it, no matter how much money, creativity or experience go into it. Might have a chance on any other network.
Can’t wait..I loved their Caravan’s of courage..
This is great, because Hamish won’t be here to pollute Spicks & Specks 🙂
I actually think this could be entertaining! There’s a lack of decent light entertainment on TV these days, Hamish and Andy could be the team to bring it back.
I hope the show goes well. I still think these guys are better suited to radio though, their Caravan of Courage specials rated well, but not sure if a weekly show will be as popular. Just like Labby & Stav on Eleven’s “Couch Time”, good on radio… annoying and cringe-worthy on television.
Easy work if you can get it!
A special… yeah, great. Week-in-week out, can;t see it working. Sad but true.
Wow! Nine basically pays for those very unfunny two to live it up in NYC.
Can you say “junket”? The joke is on Nine. These guys get a year long holiday paid for by Nine and all they have to do in return is send back some funny home videos.
