Perth’s Weekend News presenter at Nine Matt Tinney has been announced as the new presenter for Western Australia’s WIN News.
Tinney has been with WA’s Nine Weekend News for the last three years after joining as a reporter, covering crime, politics, court, health and human interest stories. In 2009, he was on location for the asylum seeker boat explosion, reporting for 30 hours straight including live crosses to Nine and SKY News.
He also worked with WIN TV in regional NSW for three years.
“Matt is a tremendous asset to the WIN News team,” said Stewart Richmond, Director of News for WA’s WIN News Hour. “He is an accomplished presenter and journalist who knows what it takes to deliver the news. Matt’s duties will not only include presenting and reporting the big events, but he’ll mentor our up-and-coming journalists and assist in the daily production of the bulletin.”
“Having lived in regional communities I’m excited about this new challenge, because I know the importance of local news and how it affects a town and its people,” said Tinny. “I look forward to meeting our viewers and hearing their stories.”
Tinney replaces Deborah Kennedy who left the position in December to pursue overseas interests.
Former ACA Perth presenter Louise Momber and Ebbeny Faranda will alternate reading Nine News Perth weekend bulletins.
