In the end Donald Trump fired himself from the Presidential campaign.

Apprentice boss and billionaire Donald Trump has ended speculation he would make a run for the White House, announcing he would not be seeking candidacy of the 2012 Republican campaign.

Trump has for many months kept the US in a guessing game of will he / won’t he make a bid, including leaving NBC to begin looking for a new boss for its Reality series.

“After considerable deliberation and reflection, I have decided not to pursue the office of the Presidency,” Mr Trump said. “This decision does not come easily or without regret; especially when my potential candidacy continues to be validated by ranking at the top of the Republican contenders in polls across the country.

“I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election.”

Trump had also sought to smear President Obama’s name by constantly asking media to witness his birth certificate, to prove he was born in the US. After Obama did just that Trump became a point of ridicule in political circles.

But his move may have also been motivated by the fact he would have had to open his books to public scrutiny.

Or the fact that the Presidency only pays $400,000 a year.

NBC had also announced it would pursue The Apprentice with or without him.

Curiously, his announcement is timed to coincide with NBC’s Up Fronts. Coincidence, of course…

  1. Barack Obama had Donald Trump at game set & match when Trump was banging on about his birth certificate and Obama had to produce it and then said we are wasting time on this when we should be focusing on serious stuff.

    That stuff was capturing Bin Laden. Once he mastered that, Trump shut up.

    I think Letterman summed it up last night on his show when he said Donald Trump isnt running for president. Is that because his thing on his head wasnt born in America?

  2. Donald Trump had no credibility left after Barack Obama completely Buried him at Barack’s Presidental Address a few weeks ago! ..it was Great!

  4. Trump’s campaign was a dead duck before it even started.

    Looking at that photo, it looks like he’s now wearing it on his head.

  5. I think his stony-faced reaction to the roasting he got at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was indication enough that he was no longer interested in the candidacy.

  6. Trump was never going to run. It was a publicity stunt for the new season of Celebrity Apprentice. The rumours began just before the show aired, heated up during, and now that it’s almost finished he says he’s not gonna run.

    Shame on people who thought he was serious. Imagine all the dirt people would find on him if he were to run.
