Returning: Burn Notice

Burn Notice will be back soon, with a national timeslot on Friday nights.

The show, which was first scheduled for Saturdays in Sydney, is now due to return 9pm Friday June 24.

It’s a bit of a surprise the show is relegated to Friday nights when many of its fans are likely to be out (it would surely outrate The Defenders on Wednesdays?), but better here than nowhere. PVR time, guys…

  1. it is absolutely ridiculous way 2 kill another show channel ten. u continue 2 show repeats of other shows in prime time during the week an 2 hell with everything else

  2. Channel ten you just continue to suck. We were in the U.S. November last year and found out about those missing 5eps from season 4. Why are you trying to kill this show? And show the Sam Axe movie!!

  3. Burn Notice and White Collar together would be awesome. I’ve been re-watching the first series of Burn Notice and it’s such a shame they lost that playful, witty tone and went all serious. They really lost something.

  4. Ten’s friday night death slot. It’s not going to do any better then L&O, doubt it will break the 400k mark…. should have left it to be scheduled for 9:30 Wed like late last year.

  5. Well if 10 want to put Burn Notice, White Collar and Blue Bloods on the graveyard shift… move it to prime time on 11 instead of repeats of shows like Staretrek in prime time.

  6. @Mucho TB – Ten hasn’t played out the final eps of Medium. Not sure about Numbers.

Surprisingly, Nine is actually playing out the final eps of Without a Trace on GEM on Tuesdays at 11.30pm though, 2 years later .

  7. @ ozinoz – I actually disagree. I thought it allowed us to see where the Sam Axe/Chuck Finely character came from, giving us some insight into how he wound up in Miami without a care in the world, etc. As the show revolves around Mike it didn’t allow for the other character’s stories/backgrounds to be known (which is the opposite of USA Network show White Collar which shows both Neil and Peter, and same with Royal Pains). I beliieve it allows for the audience to connect more so with the Sam character and see why he is so laid back. I now would love to see a Fiona prequel to see how she wound up Miami, cause I can’t see her getting burnt without taking down an entire country =p.
@ Bruce – well Season 3 of White Collar only just started in the U.S. so I can’t see it returning till the Summer block as TEN have already moved it to Saturday night’s graveyard timeslot and will want to keep it out of ratings season if they believe it is that poor of a performer. In the case of Blue Bloods, I have asked the Network TEN FB page a couple of times with them still not knowing when it will return, which is stupid seems though there is still 10 episodes of the season left to show and it being a good enough performer in the U.S. to be renewed for another season (which many new shows this year went without yet the FTA networks put those shows in primetime slots – The Defenders, No Ordinary Family, Detroit 1-8-7, etc.)

  8. Season 4 only has 5 eps for 10 to air, so it looks like it’s being keyed in to season 5, that starts in North America in a couple weeks. Ten also need to screen the Sam Axe prequel TV movie.

  9. Friday or Saturday (but particularly Saturday) it is going to be dicked about with the football. I would prefer a fixed date – what was wrong with Thurs night at 9.30 where it was last screened??

Have seen the stand alone movie – bigger cheesefest than a Pizza Hut cheese pizza!! Certainly not missing anything by not seeing it (personally I think it has cheapened the series and characters – it was not that great)

    Cheers

  10. Thank god its back but absolutely stupid timeslot! Its like White Collar on Saturday nights in which I would have to watch on TEN’s Watch TV Online website. They need to give these amazing shows the timeslots they deserve. Another example is Blue Bloods – got moved to the Friday 9:30pm (graveyard) timeslot after a couple of episodes and then disappered! It has something like 10 episodes left to show of season one and it has been renewed for another season so TEN would be smarter trying to gain as many viewers as possible from season one to get them hooked on the next season. FTA networks cutting shows midseason and changing timeslots are killing them. Why can’t they be more like subscription TV networks in that once a show has started in a timeslot there is little chance that it will stop or change timeslots till the network has run out of rights (in the case of some US shows that have their seasons cut in two the rights run out after 10 episodes).

  11. Looks more like they’re saving Law and Order: Criminal Intent for 8:30 Wednesdays now that Glee is finishing up. They originally had it after SVU but seeing how successful repeats have been (750k+ in a 9:30 slot) they’ve since nixed that idea.

I have to say though that the Friday night lineup is a little bizarre. Masterchef leading into Burn Notice, leading into Law and Order? All three shows couldn’t be more different.

Also did Ten ever get around to airing the final seasons of Medium and Numb3rs?

  12. It’s always a dilemma whether to run something on a popular night against other shows that will pull audiences away or run it when there isn’t much competition. I’m assuming this’ll be on Ten and they already have The Defenders at 9:30 after Glee at 8:30 on Wednesdays. It’s not the sort of show that would rate highly anyway.

btw, looks like you’ve copied in the synopsis for East Bound and Down.

  13. Huh. Think you made a copy and paste errior of sorts David

Follow Kenny Powers, an ex-baseball player who returns to his small hometown to be a high school PE teacher while rebuilding his sports career.

  14. I’m pretty sure that the synopsis in the third paragraph is for 7mate’s “Eastbound and Down” rather than Ten’s “Burn Notice”…

  15. Sorry TEN too late once again and Fridays is a bad night, time to break out the PVR!

Any news on the TV movie special with Sam? As you may know it’s a prequel stand alone story which could be shown by TEN at any time without messing up the current season.
