Seven has renewed The Amazing Race Australia for a second season.
The local adaptation produced by ActiveTV has been a success for Seven, getting the thumbs up from fans of the US series and winning its timeslot, sometimes without much of a lead in.
“We’ve been thrilled with the sheer scale and quality of the first series of The Amazing Race Australia,” says Seven’s Head of Production Brad Lyons.
“And we can’t wait to see the diverse bunch of Aussies who apply for the second series of the Race.”
Applications are now open for new contestants, and likely to top the flurry of applicants -last year there were 100,000 application forms downloaded in the first week alone.

Just watched the final tonight and considering it was Australian the whole series hasn’t been too bad though is it good practice to show the NAB Amex cards with the number, name and expiry very visible??
Let’s hope ActiveTV come up with a batch of original tasks instead of just copying what they think worked on the other versions they make. The new tasks this season have been far better than almost anything they’ve taken from the Asian and Israeli versions.
This series has me hooked, too bad the last of my favourites were eliminated last week, The Bikers!!! However it is still a terrific show!! And always extremely amusing, i will miss this show severely when it finishes in a few weeks, bring on the second season!!!
Does that mean we will no longer me getting the US edition?
No it does not mean that.
This series has been awesome. I’d never really watched The Amazing Race before but I’m totally hooked on this series. Great news.
