Rove LA: Oct 31

Michael C. Hall will be guest on Rove LA next week, alongside k.d. lang and L.L. Cool J.

Heads up Dexter fans, Michael C. Hall will be guest on Rove LA next week, alongside k.d. lang and L.L. Cool J.

As the format of the show features all three guests on the couch for the duration of the show this should be worth a look.

Roving Enterprises’ Craig Campbell (who is also running The Project) told TV Tonight, “To watch the amount of genuine fun the celebs have when they come to visit is incredible. They don’t get that amount of freedom in any of the talk shows in the States. By nature of a Tonight show you’ve got a 7 minute spot. The producers and the talent bookers so produce the show that they make sure you’ve got an anecdote for every question.

“We used to hear that guests were more nervous than hosts because they were worried about making sure they got their anecdotes in the right order and don’t stuff up Dave or Jay’s jokes.

“But for us it’s freeform, and they literally just get out there and have a good time,” he said.

“To see Eva Longoria with her shoes off the other night on the couch was so much fun.

“For us that’s really refreshing to bring our Australian sensibilities into the heart of LA to play.

“We’re delighted to be playing with Foxtel and delighted to be in the Olympics (line-up). It’s just kids in a candy store.”

8:35pm Monday on FOX8.

  1. So excited to see M.C.H!

Really enjoying the show, but agree with the comments about the monologue and I also find the ‘Postcard to Mum’ thing at the end really annoying!!

  2. I’ve been really enjoying Rove L.A, although as others have mentioned it does tend to rely on the right combination of guests.
I totally agree that the opening monologue should either get new writers or go altogether, it’s rarely very funny. The same goes for the ‘I just need to write a postcard to my Mum’ segment, it just seems like a weak way of ending the show.
I’m really looking forward to seeing Michael C Hall next week. I’ve seen him on other talk shows (Leno/Letterman), and he comes across as a very funny guy, so hopefully this much looser format will really suit him.

  3. I have been enjoying this show and format of a semi relaxed feel seems to work with most guest,s but you do have to get the right combo. @sarah h I agree with the week Eva,Lake and Steve were on good rapport with the 3.

I agree the monologue needs to either have better writers attached to it or drop it.

  4. this show is hit or miss, and its all down to the guests. if he has a dud panel it makes the show unwatchable for me. but when he has at least 2 decent guests, its really good.

i thought justin timberlake would be good but he seemed as though he thought he was too good to be on the show. i enjoyed the week eva longoria, lake bell and steve carell were on.

  5. If I could give some advice to Craig Campbell I would tell him to dump Rove’s opening monologue. They have all been terrible and not funny at all. Just get straight into interviewing the guests.
