Kerri-Anne to stay with Nine

"All good things have got to come to and end," says Kerri-Anne Kennerley in a classy, upbeat interview about her future.

Kerri-Anne Kennerley again proved what a class act she is when interviewed this morning about the end of her 9 years hosting morning television for Nine.

Speaking to Kyle and Jackie O she said, “Sonia (Kruger) is coming over to do Big Brother and from what I understand she’s going to host Mornings. Having known Sonia off and on over the years she’s a terrific girl, and sincerely wish her all the best. All good things have got to come to and end.

“They tell me I’m a valued part of the network and will stay… haven’t worked out what yet.

“Last Tuesday I was told, that ‘We’re thinking about things, we’ll let you know.’

Asked what happened next she said, “I read it in the paper. But that’s alright …it’s not a big deal. I’m still with the network and apparently, according to them, I will be with the network for a while. There’s hopefully new challenges.

“I’m a bit of a daytime girl. Daytime and live television is my thing, but it wouldn’t hurt to do some new challenges.”

“Besides Midday I’ve had one of the best gigs in TV. Of the 9 years 8 have been fantastic.”

Kennerley said she had been blessed with her career including Good Morning Australia and “virtually 30 odd years of ten hours a week, two hours a day, and that’s a slog.”

Speculation about her role has been under the spotlight for weeks, including when she took Leave. But media commentators have criticised Nine for not handling the change better, leading to many journalists to speculate over her future.

“Business is business and I’ve run businesses,” she said. “There is no easy way to effect change. Everybody’s ego gets dinted a bit. I’m no different to anybody else in any other job that finds themselves moving on. Whether you like it or not is besides the point. Get on, suck it up and enjoy.”

  1. Kerrie-Anne wasn’t the problem, the infommercials were. They are seriously insulting! How stupid do they think the morning TV audience is??? No matter who the host is, people are still going to change the channel when the Argh Bra comes on

Bring back KAK minus the ads!

  2. While Kerrie Anne staying for now, until another attack of Channel Nine Insanity strikes again. Actually, it would probably help if they just shut the whole channel down, now, and saved themselves the trouble of doing so, later. But this one remark by Kerrie Anne struck me as kinda odd: “ten hours a week, two hours a day, and that’s a slog”. No, that’s a doddle, Kerrie Anne.

    1. In fairness to KAK, it’s a huge output by one person week in, week out. You don’t get decades on the box by striding in and just working ten hours a week, you work behind the scenes to make that ten hours look the best that it can be. It’s as misunderstood as the notion that newsreaders just work 30 minutes a day. Not true.

  3. Sonia Kruger to host Big Brother, and Mornings,oh dear what a waste of time and money. She is hopeless on her own.Big fail on both counts 2 shows that will be big failures in 2012

  4. Nine, get rid of KAK and you will be losing one of the few ‘brand’ assets that you still have. Big, big mistake to let this class act go.

How about this – return her to breakfast TV, get rid of the sniggering Beavis Stefanvovic and inject some much needed style and brains back into the currently unwatchable proceedings.

At a time when the Nine schedule looks like it has been put together as a high school project, KAK remains a true star. And yep, I have worked with her and she is always a professional, cool and very classy act.

And if someone can explain Sonia Kruger to me, please do so in 100 words or less. Anyone, anyone …

  5. Channel 7 are you listening – this will finish off Nine! Bring back KAK at Midday, it may cost, but it will leave Nine wanting in the middle of the day. Then channel 9 will play catch up to a midday show and a new lunch time era will commence.
