Susan Boyle to sing for Today

Move over Kim Kardashian, here comes Susan Boyle, set to perform three songs before a studio audience on Today.

First the Queen, then Kim Kardashian, but is Australia ready for Susan Boyle?

The UK songstress will perform three songs live before a studio audience on Today next Thursday November 10th (that’s an early time for anyone to be warbling!).

She will also chat to Nine hosts Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson about her life and career since being discovered on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009.

The show is also offering audience tickets via Sony Music (entries must be received by 11:59pm AEDT on Sunday 6 November 2011).

More than 14 million album sales later, Susan is making her first trip Down Under to promote her new album Someone To Watch Over Me.

Next Thursday, Susan will perform two tracks from the new album – Both Sides Now and Autumn Leaves – plus the song that shot her to international stardom, I Dreamed a Dream.

On her planned TODAY appearance, Susan Boyle says: I’m really looking forward to visiting Australia, I’m having to pinch myself that I’m finally going to be there.

“I’m looking forward to performing on the Today show immensely. It is a real privilege.”

TODAY host Karl Stefanovic says: “This woman, who came from nothing and became a global phenomenon, is the music story of the decade and to be in her presence will be humbling – and everyone knows how much I love a good sing-along!”

Lisa Wilkinson adds: “Australia has wanted to meet Susan Boyle ever since she stunned the world with that first unforgettable performance.

“She’s living proof it’s never too late to make a dream come true.

“We’re so excited to have her perform live – it is a treat for us and most importantly for all our viewers.”

Boyle will also perform next Tuesday on The X Factor.

  1. jonno, she doesn’t have mental issues, she has a disability. Brain damage from birth. That’s a physical problem, not a mental illness. There’s a difference.
As for these other sorry excuses for human beings, I feel sorry for them. They have absolutely no compassion or decency. I sincerely hope that no one in their family is ever in an auto accident, has a stroke, has a child starved of oxygen at birth, etc., but if it does happen they’ll change their tune fast and won’t take kindly to ridicule.

  2. Susan Boyle is an amazing singer and deserves every success. She is authentic and true to herself … A fine example … Perhaps it would be kinder for you folk who are quick to pass judgement and criticism to think before you verbalize your diarrhea and put one foot in her shoes and ask yourself how you would manage given the same or similar life circumstances. Praise and Good thoughts will serve everyone much more effectively

  3. I wonder why some people take such delight in being mean. I believe it’s because they live such sorry lives themselves they want to pull everyone down there with them. I guess we just have to feel sorry for them and then ignore them.

  4. @ Jimmy- Don’t be so negative. Susan Boyle has cancelled before but only due to minor mental health issues which she has acknowledged and have been well publicised. She seems to be back on track. She is not the traditional superstar but i think her story is inspiring. Not all people in this world get off to a flying start in life but Susan is starting to sprint home. She is a true superstar who should be given a little leeway.
