RocKwiz Xmas Special: sneak peek

Only RocKwiz can re-create Jon English singing Jesus Christ Superstar on the stage of the Palais Theatre, where he performed as Judas in 1972.

Only one television show can re-create the seemingly impossible: Jon English singing Jesus Christ Superstar at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre, the very same stage where he performed as Judas in 1972.

“Ol’ Black Eyes” is one of the guest performers in the RocKwiz 2011 Christmas Special which airs on SBS ONE on Saturday night. Also appearing are Shellie Morris, Ross Wilson, Henry Wagons, Rebecca Barnard, and Patience Hodgson from the Grates.

The 85 minute special is a mix of soulful Christmas songs and a dash of music trivia before an enthusiastic audience.

In keeping with the show’s grass-roots it’s a heaving, raw Chrissy special with renditions of songs by Tom Waits, Stevie Wonder and The Ramones and a perfect alternative to the more family-friendly choices.

RocKwiz: Christmas Special airs 9:30pm Saturday SBS ONE.
